Bailingweng Temple

Burlingweng is one of the folk beliefs in China, and is the trade god worshipped by the ceramic industry. Bolingweng temple is located in Shenlong Town, 30km southwest of Yuzhou City, Henan Province. It is one of the first batch of famous historical and cultural towns in China. It is the origin of Jun porcelain, a famous craft treasure in China. It is known as "Jun capital". As a result, Shenlong has left many historical and cultural landscapes related to Jun porcelain, among which the most famous are the burlingweng temple and huaxilou.

brief introduction

The porcelain kilns in Shenlong town are scattered all over the world, and the kiln temples can be seen everywhere. The kiln temple, located in the zodiac street of Shenlong Town, is the most famous of all the kiln temples in the town.

According to legend, the temple was rebuilt several times during the Hongzhi period of the Ming Dynasty and the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty.

There is no difference between the architectural pattern of the main hall and the ordinary temple. The difference is that there is a huge lion carrying vase on the top of the main hall, which is the masterpiece of Lu's three brothers (Lu Tianfu, Lu Tianzeng and Lu Tianen), the famous Jun porcelain artist in the Qing Dynasty.

There are three main gods worshipped in the hall. One of them is the king of Tushan and the God of situ. According to the Bamboo Annals, it is Shun.

The one on the left is bolingxianweng. According to historical materials, he was born in Yonghe period (345-357) of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. He was a skillful craftsman and made great contributions to the development of ancient porcelain industry in shenxun. Therefore, he was regarded as the God of craftsmanship by shenxun's kiln workers.

On the right is the goddess of fire, known as "goddess of golden fire". It is said that once upon a time, there was a kiln worker in shenxun who made a beautiful purple vase. Later, the vase was sent to the palace. As soon as the emperor saw that it was very popular, he ordered the kiln worker to make another vase and send it to the palace within a time limit.

The killers knew in their hearts that Jun porcelain was unique. It was impossible to make the same two vases, but it was hard to break the sacred order, so they had to burn them again. They worked so hard that they failed to burn several kilns, and the deadline given by the government was approaching. The killers were very anxious. The daughter of an old kiln worker, chizi, was very worried when she saw that her father was helpless.

One night, she had a dream about an old man with a young face. As he walked along, the old man said that only when the girl's blood sprayed on the firing bottle when the kiln was opened, the vase would be in pairs.

When she wakes up, she asks her father to try again and tells her father that she has found a way to make the vase.

As like as two peas, the kiln worker fired a kiln. When he opened the kiln, he ran into the kiln. The walls of the kiln burst, and the fire was shining. A vase of purple red stood upright in the remnant of the kiln, which was almost identical to the one sent to the palace.

The kiln worker got the bottle only when he lost his love, but he was very angry and smashed it to pieces, then he rushed into the kiln.

In a flash, as like as two peas, the fire was devouring the life of the old kiln worker. No one could ever produce a pair of vases that were exactly the same. The kiln workers were moved by her filial piety to her father, and were also moved by the mystery of the kiln changes. They regarded her as the goddess of fire.

Bolingweng temple is located in the former administrative street of Shenlong Town, Yuzhou City, Henan Province, the capital of Jun porcelain in China. It is a kiln temple, commonly known as the "big temple".

A pair of couplets in running script is engraved on the blue stone pillars at the gate of the temple. The couplets are neat, unique and full of local characteristics, which is very thought-provoking. This couplet is closely related to the porcelain making industry of shenxun. The sentence is concise and the meaning is far-reaching. The author makes a brief explanation according to his own understanding.

The gate of shenxun temple is commonly known as "huaxilou", because when you go in from the gate, you can see that it is a small pavilion stage on which you can sing opera.

There is a pair of blue stone lions at the gate of the temple, one female and one male guarding both sides. It's lovely. Due to the flood in shencuan in 1957, the water overflowed from the Longyu bridge and rushed to the street. The lion on the right (West) side was the first to bear the brunt of the flood. It was moved by the water, and there was a little wrong joint with the blue stone column engraved with couplets behind it. Fortunately, it didn't matter.

The gate of the grand temple is a semicircle arch, on which four big characters are engraved: "bolingweng Temple". There were three kiln gods worshipped in bailingweng temple, one is bailingxianweng, the other is Jinhuo Madonna, and the third is Tushan king.

These immortals are all related to the porcelain industry of shenxun. The king of Tushan controls the raw materials of porcelain, and the fairy of Boling controls the workers of porcelain

Now let's take a look at this couplet. Due to the long history of the times, the author and the author of the couplet can not be verified, but the content it leaves to people is eternal.

Weilu originally means the secret record of Taoism (the interpretation of Cihai), which refers to the secret recipe and technique of Jun porcelain; Kunde, the representative place of Kun in the eight trigrams, namely land. Earth is also the thick earth of shencuan, which refers to the rich porcelain clay resources of shencuan.

As the saying goes, "one side of the soil and water nourishes one side of the people", the unique raw materials for making porcelain of shenxun are unique, which should be thanks to the gift of nature, which is the virtue and credit of Kun (earth); Li Gong, Li represents fire in the eight trigrams, Jun porcelain firing depends on firing, kiln firing is the most important, so Li (fire) has great credit. The unique raw materials and Jun porcelain made by the kiln fire god work are beneficial to the merchants all over the world, making everyone prosperous in business and wealth.

It can be seen from the above that the spirit elixir Baozhen in the couplet corresponds to the spirit fairy; Kunde corresponds to the king of Tushan, and Ligong corresponds to the goddess of gold and fire. It was the trinity of earth, fire and industry that made the unique spirit of kiln transformation in China.

It can be seen that when the author wrote this couplet at that time, he made great efforts in choosing words and sentences. He pointed out the key technology of making Jun porcelain and the contribution of shencuan Jun porcelain industry to the world. The couplet not only added luster to the bolingwang temple, but also added unique cultural connotation to Jun porcelain.
