Tanghe scenic spot is located in Tanghe Township, Gongchangling District, Southeast of Liaoyang City, 39 kilometers away from Liaoyang City. The scenic area consists of three tourist areas: reservoir, hot spring and Longshan, with a total area of 60.5 square kilometers. There is a "Ju Jiu Shan Guan" built on the basis of the mountain, which is well arranged. The magnificent reservoir dam is 455m long, 48.5m high and 6m wide at the top. Tanghe scenic spot was listed as a provincial scenic spot by Liaoning Province in 1983 and named as a national AA scenic spot by the Provincial Tourism Administration in July 2002.

Tanghe Reservoir

Tanghe Reservoir is famous for its clear mountains and beautiful scenery. In August 1966, Liaoyang City opened up the area of Tanghe hot spring and Tanghe Reservoir as a scenic spot. In November 1983, Tanghe scenic spot was listed as a provincial scenic spot in Liaoning Province. Tanghe Reservoir is located between Liaoyang, Anshan and Benxi, on the main stream of Tanghe River 39 km southeast of Liaoyang. The reservoir is a key water conservancy project which mainly uses flood control, irrigation and industrial water, and also takes into account the comprehensive utilization of power generation and fish culture. The control basin covers an area of 1128 square kilometers. Tanghe Reservoir is divided into three stages: 1958-1959 as the construction period, 1968-1969 as the extension period, 1978-1983 as the dam protection and reinforcement period. The dam crest elevation is 118.66 meters, the maximum dam height is 48.66 meters, the dam crest width is 6 meters, and the dam crest length is 455 meters.
