The former meeting site of Wenjia City in Autumn Harvest Uprising is located at No.33 Renmin Road, Wenjia town, Liuyang County, Hunan Province, with cultural mountain on its back. The former site was an ancient academy, which was founded in 1841. It was originally named Wenhua academy, and was changed to Liren school in 1908.
In September 1927, the Autumn Harvest Uprising troops of the Communist Party of China joined forces here. Mao Zedong presided over the meeting of the front Committee and made a decision in time to shift from attacking big cities to marching in the countryside. The strategic thought of Encircling Cities from the countryside was initially formed, and the history of Chinese people's revolution began a decisive new starting point.
In 1961, the former site of Wenjia Huishi in Autumn Harvest Uprising was listed as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council. In 1995, the former site was announced as a patriotic education base by the Propaganda Department of Hunan provincial Party committee.
In December 2016, the former meeting site of Wenjia City in Autumn Harvest Uprising was listed in the list of national Red Tourism classic scenic spots.
Historical evolution
The former meeting site of Wenjia City in Autumn Harvest Uprising was founded in 1841. It was originally known as Wenhua Academy. It was an ancient academy.
In 1908, it was changed into Liren school.
In September 1927, the Autumn Harvest Uprising troops joined forces in Wenjia City. Mao Zedong presided over the meeting of the front Committee and made a timely decision to shift from attacking big cities to marching in rural areas. The strategic thought of Encircling Cities from rural areas was initially formed. The history of Chinese people's revolution began a new starting point with decisive significance.
In 1964, Liuyang Municipal People's government organized personnel to collect cultural relics and sent full-time personnel to protect and maintain Liren school.
In 1966, the old site of Wenjia City was opened to the public during the Autumn Harvest Uprising.
After the Autumn Harvest Uprising in 1968, the former site of the meeting in Wenjia City was repaired many times.
In 1977, a new Autumn Harvest Uprising Memorial Hall was built on the west side of the old site to display a large number of historical materials about the Autumn Harvest Uprising and protect the old site.
In 1993, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Comrade Mao Zedong's birth, an exhibition of Mao Zedong's life was held at the former site.
In 2002, the old site and the memorial hall were fully repaired and renovated. Using sound, light, electricity, sculpture, painting, multimedia and other modern techniques, the great historical event of the Autumn Harvest Uprising Wenjia City meeting was completely displayed to the audience.
Architectural pattern
The former site of Wenhua Academy was changed to Liren school in the early Republic of China. There are two rain pavilions with wooden structure in front of the school gate. The main building has four entrances: the first entrance is the gate, with one house on the left and one on the right; the second entrance is a two-story wooden structure building; the third entrance is the Dacheng Hall of the Academy, which is a double eaves building on the top of the mountain, with 20 stone columns inside and outside; the fourth entrance is the Chengde Hall of the original Chinese Academy. On the evening of September 19, the military meeting of the former enemy Committee was held here. In front of the Academy, there was a temple on the left. On the right is Wenchang Pavilion. On the left of the pavilion, Xinzhai sits on the West and faces east. There are four bungalows, one of which is Mao Zedong's living room. Revolutionary slogans are preserved on both sides of the alley.

The basic display of Wenjia Huishi Memorial Hall of Autumn Harvest Uprising consists of two parts: restoration display and auxiliary display, with a total of 67 cultural relics on display. Changlong gun (used by Autumn Harvest Uprising troops), clock box (used by underground party to transmit information on the eve of Autumn Harvest Uprising), oil lamp (used by the former enemy Committee on the evening of September 19, 1927), flag (inlaid with a red flag decorated with a five-star sickle hammer plan and the words "the first division of the first army of the workers' and peasants' revolutionary army". This is the first flag of the Autumn Harvest Uprising.

Cultural value
The Autumn Harvest Uprising is a great feat to promote the peasants' agrarian revolution by means of revolutionary armed struggle, and it played the first military flag of the people's army under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. In particular, the meeting of Wenjia City determined the strategic plan for the uprising team to go to Jinggangshan, which made clear the direction for the Chinese revolution to shift from the city to the countryside and realize the strategic transformation of the revolutionary forces.
Cultural relic value
The old site of wenjiahuishi in the Autumn Harvest Uprising preserved cultural relics of the revolutionary war. This period is not only a period of great changes in Chinese society, but also the beginning of the Chinese revolution led by the Communist Party of China. The remains of revolutionary cultural relics are the carrier of this period of history and the activities of these historical figures, and have important historical value. It also left a large amount of historical and cultural material wealth and spiritual wealth to later generations.

On September 19, 2012, the 85th anniversary of the Autumn Harvest Uprising, Liuyang City held commemorative activities to carry forward the Autumn Harvest Uprising spirit of firm ideals and beliefs and strong revolutionary fighting spirit. Commemorating the 85th anniversary of the Autumn Harvest Uprising and the meeting of Wenjia City in Hunan Province was held at the meeting Memorial Hall of Wenjia City in Liuyang. The conference reviewed the firm ideals and beliefs embodied in the Autumn Harvest Uprising and the Wenjia City reunion, and always maintained the "Autumn Harvest Uprising spirit" of vigorous revolutionary fighting spirit.
On June 28, 2014, all Party members of Jinggang town visited the memorial hall of the former meeting site of Wenjia City in the old revolutionary base area of Liuyang and the former residence of Yaobang in the Autumn Harvest Uprising, and carried out a centralized learning activity of party spirit education with the theme of "tempering party spirit, we are in action".
