Folk festivals
Guanmen Festival and Kaimen Festival are religious festivals of Dai, Bulang, Achang and De'ang people who believe in inferior Buddhism. Dai People's closed door Festival and open door Festival are typical, more representative and more religious. The closing day, which is called "haowasa" in Dai language, means the time to teach Buddhism. It is scheduled for September 15 of the Dai calendar (mid June of the lunar calendar). The day on which the three-month teaching of Buddhism ends (that is, December 25 of the Dai calendar) is the open door Festival. Kaimen Festival is called "owasa" in Dai language, which means going out of the period of teaching Buddhism. The first day of teaching Buddhism is a festival, which is very interesting. It is generally believed that the closed door Festival and the open door festival originated from the habit of living in peace in the rainy season of ancient Indian Buddhism, and the three-month closed door Festival is regarded as the period of living and fasting for believers.
On the closing day, Dai village is full of festival atmosphere. Early in the morning, every household is busy steaming colorful glutinous rice and making cakes, offering gifts to relatives and friends, and preparing banquet.
During the three months of the closing day, it is a major activity for people to listen to Buddhist monks' sermons in Buddhist temples. The content taught by eminent monks is the story of those who have become Buddhists, so as to educate all living beings to become Buddhists. During the three-month period from the closed door festival to the open door Festival, Dai family members do not hold weddings, build new houses or go far away. They should concentrate on production. They regularly go to the Buddhist temple to worship the Buddha. The devout elders consciously fast, wear white clothes, wrap white cloth headscarves, and some even stay in the temple. Every seven days, they hold a Buddhist worship activity. At that time, the believers bring food and wax sticks for sacrifice Buddha, listen to the temple monks chant scriptures, explain the rules, commandments, Buddhist stories. There will also be a major event called "Kuantan" (offering Scriptures).
On December 15 of the Dai calendar, when the three-month closing day expires, the festival is celebrated. The believers took paper flowers, wax sticks, flowers and trees, food and coins to the Buddhist temple to hold a grand Buddhist and Sutra chanting activity. It's also like the closing day to eat almsgiving meals, monks gathering meals, and it's as lively and joyful as the closing day. In the night, the Buddhist temples are lit with sparks, raised, lit with lights, danced and danced around the villages to celebrate the end of the fast period, indicating that they have entered the open period from the closed period. After this night, the Dai village is back to its old romantic life. Monks can go out of Buddhism, believers can go far away, Dai people can build new houses, young people can string girls, lovers can hold weddings.
Whenever the awas win, they will hold a special event to celebrate. In the center of the venue, a fat cow was tied to a wooden stake erected in advance, and a circle of human walls was built around by men, women, old and young. All the young men were armed with long knives. At the beginning of the grand meeting, after listening to SHANGUAN's words, he went to the cattle in the field. When he approached the cow, the onlookers held their breath and suddenly became quiet, one by one looking at the mountain official. At this time, the mountain official held the knife in his right hand and pulled up the cow's tail in his left. The boys around also hold the long knife in their hands, making a charging posture. When he said that he was late, it was fast. The mountain official's hand was up and down, and a cow's tail had been cut off and held in his hand. The young men with swords, like arrows, rushed to the ox. Suddenly, the knife struck, the girl screamed, and the elephant foot drum played a symphony of fighting for beef
The winner is the young man who cuts the most beef in "chopping the tail of a cow". He will be surrounded by the girls. Especially those who get horns are the best among the winners. In this way, the Wa people show their bravery.
It is a traditional custom of Wa people to rush marriage. Generally, after singing in the mountains, the young wa men and women agree on the time and place if they like each other. The man takes several people with him to take the girl home. The girl cries "help" while running. After the girl is robbed, the man sends someone to the woman's home to talk to her. The woman's parents think that "raw rice cooked rice" has to promise marriage. Many wa men and women get married in this way.
Bullfighting is a favorite activity of the Wa people. The bullfighting is specially used for bullfighting. The bullfighting is a kind of aggressive bullfighting activity. It is fed with refined feed for three or four months without farming or camel. The bull fighting scene was thrilling and exciting. The big bulls were fighting fiercely. The strong one held the ribs of the weak one until they were forced to stand on all fours or turn around to escape. In addition, the Wa people also like to have a "bullfight" competition between them, that is, they fall to the ground head to head with two hands, kneel down with two feet to form a bull shape, and push each other with their shoulders, so as to turn the other side over or back.
The Spring Festival is called "Wo" in Wa language. It is the happiest and happiest day of the year for Wa people. In the festival speech, the old Wa people
