Construction process

Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge No.2 is located in Wuhan port area of Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China. It is connected with Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge and Hanshui bridge to form the central traffic inner ring of Wuhan city.
It is 6.8km away from Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge in the upstream and 9.5km away from Tianxingzhou Yangtze River Bridge in the downstream. It starts from Huangpu Road in Hankou in the north, passes through Jiefang Avenue, Yanjiang Avenue and other roads, crosses the Yangtze River waterway to Wuchang District, passes through Linjiang Avenue, Wubei railway station and Heping Avenue, and connects with Wuhan Second Ring Road.

Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge No.2 is composed of main bridge on water, Huangpu Street overpass, North and south approach bridges, two pylons and their overpass ramps. The main bridge section is arranged from northwest to Southeast.
Design features
Wuhan No.2 Yangtze River Bridge is a prestressed concrete highway cable-stayed bridge with double pylons and double cable planes. The main tower is an H-shaped structure, the tower base is an inclined solid structure, the solid structure template is a bamboo glue template, and the internal rigid framework is arranged in the tower base; the lower tower column is composed of two inclined legs with rectangular section, the "V" leg is provided with a rigid framework, and the template is fixed on the framework; the middle tower column has two hollow steel sections The upper tower column is the cable anchorage zone of the cable-stayed bridge, which is an "H" section. The cable is made up of high-strength steel wire, protected by high-density polyethylene and wrapped with white PVF tape.

The total length of the line is 3971.408 meters, the main bridge is 1876.1 meters, the approach bridge is 3239 meters, the third floor through bridge of jiahuangpu Road overpass is 3971 meters, the main bridge lane width is 23 meters, and 1.75 meters sidewalk and railing are set on both sides of the lane; the whole bridge adopts (7x60 + 83 + 130 + 125 + 180 + 400 + 180 + 125 + 130 + 83) meter span layout, and the deck lane width is 23 meters. The height of the bridge tower is 124.02m (elevation + 20.00m to + 144.02m); the concrete volume of the main tower is about 16000m3, and the steel consumption is more than 2000t; the height of the tower base is 8m, the thickness is 7m, the upper side is 28.44m wide, the lower side is 23.00m wide, and the concrete volume is 1440m3. The part of the cable-stayed bridge is a circular curve with a radius of 19003.8m, with a span of (180 + 40 + 180) M. The longitudinal slope of rigid frame and continuous beam is 2%, and the transverse flow slope of bridge deck from the center to both sides is 1.5%; 192 cableway pipes are arranged for each tower.

On May 13, 2018, the design of the "three modernizations" project of the main bridge of Wuhan Yangtze River was completed and approved. On the second bridge of Wuhan Yangtze River, the designer carried out visual segmentation, sorting and finishing of the bridge tower through different gray levels of cyan gray to make it more refined, elegant, stable and slender. In terms of lighting, the overall interpretation of the night sky spilling into the river, and Light projection deduction is carried out at the bridge belly.

As of August 16, 2017, Wuhan Second Yangtze River Bridge has been equipped with modern traffic monitoring system in each bridge section, which is conducive to traffic management and timely handling of traffic accidents.

Wuhan municipal government issued a notice on September 12, 2017, announcing that from 0:00 on January 1, 2018, it will stop collecting etc vehicle tolls of "nine bridges, one tunnel and one road", including Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge No.2.
Traffic matters
On December 5, 2018, Wuhan Second Yangtze River Bridge will carry out ramp maintenance construction from December 7 to December 31. Relevant up and down ramps will be temporarily closed to prohibit motor vehicles. Drivers can go straight through the main line of Wuhan Second Yangtze River bridge or bypass the unclosed ramp. It is best to bypass the Erqi Yangtze River bridge or Wuhan Yangtze River railway tunnel.

In the construction of the main tower of Wuhan No.2 Yangtze River Bridge, the inclined climbing construction technology is adopted; the working principle of the inclined climbing construction is that the climbing frame and the formwork are the supporting points for each other, and the relative movement is carried out separately. The supporting point of the climbing frame acts on the concrete of the main tower, and the formwork supports the rigid column in the main tower. The lifting of the formwork depends on the climbing frame, and the lifting of the climbing frame depends on the formwork or the rigid column, thus forming the mutual dependence between the climbing frame and the formwork. In this way, the climbing and positioning of the formwork can be effectively completed, and the construction purpose of pouring concrete section by section in the process cycle can be achieved.
