Hu Gong Temple
In 1922, Hu Jingyi joined the battle of Zhengzhou with general Feng Yuxiang. In 1924, he served as governor and governor of Henan Province. On April 10 of the same year, he died of canker on his right arm. He was only 34 years old.
Hu was buried in the western suburb of Zhengzhou for his dead soldiers before he died. Later, he built a ancestral temple on xitaikang road and selected the old cemetery. At that time, the scale of the ancestral hall was very small, that is, the west side of the main hall of Hugong ancestral hall, which was also called Hugong ancestral hall by old Zhengzhou people. That year's courtyard had been completely demolished in 1981. After Hu's death, the temple was not expanded. Eight years later, in 1932, Feng Yuxiang, Zhang Qun and Zhang Ji advocated the construction of the temple to commemorate Hu's fighting achievements in Henan and Zhengzhou. In the autumn of 1936, the Hu Gong ancestral hall, which took four years to build, was finally completed. It covers an area of 23 mu. There are halls, pavilions, and a statue, green cypresses and red walls. It is an antique scene in Zhengzhou at that time.
After the liberation of Zhengzhou, Hugong temple was used as a souvenir shop in people's Park. Because of years of disrepair, it has already become a dangerous building and is on the verge of collapse. The wood carving faucets, carved flowers and other objects around the building are rotten due to the wind, sun, rain and snow soaking for a long time. Later, it was classified as a dangerous building and sealed up. After repeated appeals from the media and the people, in 2008, Zhengzhou allocated funds to repair the main hall of Hugong ancestral hall, making the ancestral hall take on a new look.
Hugong ancestral hall preserves the main hall, ancestral gate and ancient trees. Although it is still the South Gate of the people's Park, the pattern of the ancestral garden is well preserved.
