History and Humanities
Emperor Shun was seriously ill during his southern tour. His two concubines, e Huang and nu Ying, traveled thousands of miles to find their husband. When I arrived in Yueyang, I heard that Emperor Shun had collapsed, and the second concubine burst into tears, dripping blood and tears on the bamboo beside the Xiangjiang River. Later, a kind of peculiar "mottled bamboo" was formed. The two imperial concubines died in tears and blood, and later became the goddess of Xiangshui. Nowadays, there are two imperial concubines' tombs in Junshan, on the Bank of Dongting Lake. In the main hall of Emperor Shun's mausoleum, there is a painting of two imperial concubines, which shows the situation of two imperial concubines dripping with tears. It seems that what a holy emperor is also a man of seven passions and six desires among cannibals. He shows greatness in the commonplace and makes Emperor Shun feel more amiable and respectable.
