In 1647 A.D., Shi pan and Li Yu, the scholars of Yancheng, fought against the Qing Dynasty. After their failure, the Qing government raided everywhere, and song Cao was rescued and released. After that, he traveled to Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. At that time, there was a righteous man in Xuzhou who fought against the Qing Dynasty for ten thousand years and was friendly with song Cao. Ten thousand years later, he failed to fight against the Qing Dynasty in the south of the Yangtze River. He fled back to the north of the Yangtze River and lived in seclusion on the Bank of Hongze Lake. Song Cao visited, and Gu Tinglin, a famous scholar, was also in ten thousand places, so they made an appointment. In the first year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1662 A.D.), he was recommended to seclusion in the mountains and forests by an imperial edict. Another 16 years later, the Qing Dynasty compiled the history of the Ming Dynasty, opened a erudite branch of Ci poetry, and invited famous Confucianists from all over the country. At that time, Yan hang and Mu Tianyan, governor of Jiangsu Province, recommended song Cao and Wei Shuzi, both of whom insisted on not going.
Liu Wenji, the cousin of emperor Chongzhen in Song Dynasty and Ming Dynasty, was friendly.
