West Mosque
Muslim West Temple originated from zhehrenye sect in Cangzhou. It was first spread in Cangzhou by a Imam surnamed Jin (then called "Lao Jinye") from Jinan. Local Imam Liu Bao responded positively. After some debates with some believers who supported the philosophy sect, he split up from the North Muslim temple. In addition, he bought land in the Hutong area of today's West Muslim temple and established the Muslim West Temple. Beida Temple recognized the school of philosophy and the West Temple, and presented the West Temple with a plaque entitled "Zhengdao Kefeng" (this plaque was lost during the Cultural Revolution).
Brief introduction to temples
The West Mosque of Cangzhou city is located in the West Temple Hutong of Minzhu street in Yunhe district. It was built in 1740 A.D., covering an area of 1445 square meters, including a building area of 510 square meters. It has a main hall, 13 folding rooms and 20 bungalows, with a total of 33 houses. It is the only Mosque of Islamic zhehrenya sect.
Temple personnel
The imams stationed in the West mosque are: Imam Liu Bao, Imam Liu Xi'en (not the same as today's Imam Liu Xi'en), Imam Ma Tai, Imam Ma Cheng, Imam Liu Hongru and Imam Liu Songshou, followed by Imam Ma Zhongde, Imam Ma Ruyu and Imam Liu Xi'en from Ningxia.
Imam Liu Xi'en, chairman of Cangzhou Islamic Association in 1981, member of the second Provincial Association for Iraq and member of the Standing Committee of the sixth municipal people's Congress. Later, due to poor health and other reasons, he only served as honorary chairman of Cangzhou Islamic Association.
Historical changes
The mosque was demolished during the cultural revolution, leaving only four rooms. This place was occupied by Hongqi plastic factory, Shigang rolling factory and Hongqi garment factory in Yunhe district.
Since 1989, at the request of the religious masses, the leaders of the district government have done a lot of work and vacated five rooms as places for religious activities, with an investment of more than 4000 yuan for renovation. In September 1990, 250000 yuan was allocated by the municipal government and 50000 yuan was allocated by the district government as the relocation fee of Hongqi garment factory. All of them were moved out of the mosque. The two sides signed a handover agreement. Since then, the mosque has returned to the hands of religious believers, fully reflecting the party's policy of freedom of religious belief.
religious activities
The restored mosque can be used for 60-70 people to worship, basically meeting the normal religious activities of the philosophers. The rest of the houses are leased by the West mosque to the city's ethnic kindergarten.
