Taxia village built along the stream is famous for its scenery. Walking along the coast, you can feel the charm of this typical Hakka village, whether it's a small green brick building, a stone arch bridge across a stream, or a cobble path in front of and behind the building. The shape of the Tulou in the village is very rich. In addition to the common round and square Tulou, there are also apron and square Tulou. What's more unique is that there are two round earth buildings at the bend of the meandering stream. If you take 15 minutes to climb up the viewing platform on the top of the hill, a panoramic view of Taiji water town will be displayed in front of you.
Tahia Village
Tahia village, an administrative village under the jurisdiction of Shuyang Town, Nanjing County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, is a traditional Chinese village. It is located in the west of Shuyang Town, covering an area of 5.68 square kilometers.
Tahia village is a typical Hakka settlement. The Taiji like village pattern built in the mountains and rivers of "two mountains with water and iron fans closing the door" is well preserved. It is the witness of Hakka blood relationship and traditional culture of living together. It is also an important example of studying the historical evolution of Fujian Tulou and the construction technology of large rammed earth dwellings. Historical relics such as deyuantang and shilongqi, as well as traditional customs such as "spring sacrifice" and "making great blessings" in the village's state-level cultural relics protection units, show the adherence and inheritance of Hakka culture to Central Plains culture, and provide supporting materials for the study of Central Plains cultural change and the history of Han nationality's southward migration.
The Tulou in tahia village is built along the river. There are many Tulou forms, such as square and round Tulou, apron shaped Tulou and square shaped Tulou. The most unique one is the hanging corner building of single courtyard civil engineering and brick wood structure in Zhejiang Hangzhou Water Town, which forms a view of buildings with small buildings and scattered layout. Yude building and Shunchang building are located on both sides of the stream. Combined with the stream, it looks like Taiji Therefore, it is known as "Taiji water town".
There are intangible cultural heritages in tahia village, such as Hakka puppet show and Hakka Earth Building construction skills.
In December 2016, Taxia village was announced as the fourth batch of Chinese traditional villages by the Ministry of housing and urban rural development, the Ministry of culture, the State Administration of cultural relics, the Ministry of finance, the Ministry of land and resources, the Ministry of agriculture and the National Tourism Administration.

Historical evolution
During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Taxia village was subordinate to the general Taxia village of Meilong, jurenli, Nanjing County.
In Ming Dynasty, Zhang Huasun, the first ancestor of Zhang's surname, sent his nine generations of sun xiaoyilang to Fujian Province to move from Jiaokeng, Jinsha, Nanjing to zhangwuping, matoubei, Guangdong Province. Later, she moved to Pinghe Xiaoxi to make iron and gave birth to her second son. Xiaoyilang and her eldest son stayed in Xiaoxi. Hua yiniang and her second son Guangshao moved back to zhangwuping. In the first year of Xuande in the Ming Dynasty (1426), she was under the Zhaoji tower. Because in Hakka, "Ta Xia" and "Ta Xia" are homophonic, so many years later, in order to commemorate their ancestors, Zhang's descendants called the place "Ta Xia".
In 1631, Fuxing building was built in tahia village. Later, 42 earth buildings were built.
At the end of the Qing Dynasty, due to geographical constraints, there was no land under the tower to build large-scale earth buildings. The people of the surname Zhang adapted measures to local conditions and built many single courtyard civil and brick and wood structure stilted buildings on the open space along the river, forming a landscape of buildings with small buildings and scattered heights.
At the beginning of the Republic of China, tahia village was under the jurisdiction of santuan District of Nanjing County. After the thirtieth year of the Republic of China (1941), it belonged to tahiabao village of Meijiang township.
After 1949, tahia village belongs to Qujiang Township, the Fifth District.
In 1958, Qujiang Township and Shuyang Township merged to form Shuyang people's commune, and tahia village was organized as tahia brigade.
In 1984, Taxia village was changed into Taxia village committee (including two natural villages, Taxia and Daba).
In 1989, Shuyang people's commune was changed into Shuyang Township, and then into Shuyang town. Tahia village was subordinate to Shuyang town.

Village characteristics
Site selection concept
Tahia village is surrounded by mountains and water. Fields can be cultivated, mountains can be constructed, and water can be used for fishing. The terrain is flat, surrounded by mountains on the left and right, and clear water circulates in the village. There are streams in front of the village and mountains behind it. Surrounded by mountains, there are "iron fans closing the door". The combination of yin and Yang is a harmonious place where heaven and man are in harmony at the right time and place. The location of tahia village has four characteristics of "hidden, mountain, water and field".
Hidden: high mountains and dense forests, Taxia village is located in the depth of mountains, surrounded by mountains, separated from the outside world.
Mountains: high mountains, canyons and streams pass through the canyons. The vast resources of mountains provide sufficient timber resources for building houses.
Water: the annual rainfall is 1700mm, and the stream flows through the village, providing sufficient water resources for irrigation and drinking water. Qingtiao Creek crosses from south to North from the front of the tower and the earth building group of Daba, forming a different riverside style.
Tian: Taxia village is located in a high mountain gorge with relatively flat foothills, which provides relatively sufficient national land resources for the ancestors, but with the increase of population, the land resources are relatively scarce. Tahia village's reclamation of the mountain is almost to the limit. Almost all the mountains on both sides with a slope of less than 45 degrees have been reclaimed into farmland, which reflects the spirit of pioneering innovation and hard struggle of tahia people.
spatial distribution
The stream in tahia village passes through the village in an "s" shape, and the street buildings are mainly distributed along both sides of the stream. Yude tower and Shunchang tower are located on both sides of the stream. Combined with the shape of the stream, they have great significance. Therefore, they are also known as "Taiji water town".

Main attractions
Deyuantang
Deyuan hall is the Sixth Batch of national key cultural relics protection units. It is one of the existing relatively complete ancestral halls of ancient surnames in China,
It was built in the 25th year of Qianlong (1760) of the Qing Dynasty. It was also repaired in the 30th year of Guangxu (1850), the 24th year of Guangxu (1898), the 17th year of the Republic of China (1928), the 30th year of the Republic of China (1941), 1977 and 1993 respectively. The current architectural form basically retains the style of the Qing Dynasty.
Deyuantang is located in the east of the village, facing south, back to the green mountains and facing the stream. It is a "two entrance building". On both sides of the gate, there is a big stone drum, and the screen of the stone drum is carved with the traditional figures of the twenty-four filial piety. On the roof, there are various kinds of porcelain pieces cut and pasted reliefs, including historical figures such as the annals of the Three Kingdoms, the eight immortals and the list of gods, rare birds and animals such as dragons, tigers, lions, unicorns, Phoenix and pheasants, and flowers such as peony, camellia, orchids and chrysanthemums. Zhu Xi's epigram is engraved on the crossbeam of the main hall: "although our descendants are stupid, we must read poems and books; although our ancestors are far away, we must be sincere in offering sacrifices."
On the red pillars on both sides of the hall, a pair of long couplets written by Zhang Ao, based on the historical officials of Zhang's family, are written: "the surname of Zhang Ao is inscribed by a great scholar Xuanyuan, two articles supporting the three heroes of the Han Dynasty, four phases conferring the five tigers, six histories, Diao Guan and seven leaves are still the Qinghe travel school. The name of Zhang Ao is xianding, Jiucheng Pingxing, shice, Renshu, Baizi, qianqianwanxuan, daolingyizun, still the literature branch." The 78 characters in the couplet are embedded in the "one to ten trillion" series, which contains 14 allusions. Among them, "Renshu hundred characters" is the family model of Zhang Gongyi's ninth cohabitation in Tang Dynasty. There is a half moon shaped pond in front of Deyuan hall. On the two sides of the pond, there are 24 stone dragon flagpoles over 10 meters high. These 24 stone dragon flagpoles are the most existing stone dragon flagpoles in China and are rare stone dragon flagpoles. Behind Deyuan hall is a scenic forest.
The historical remains of tahia village, represented by deyuantang and shilongqi, mark the adherence and inheritance of Hakka culture to the Central Plains culture, and provide evidence for the study of the evolution of Central Plains culture and the history of Han nationality's southward migration.
