Jieyang Museum

Jieyang City Museum, formerly known as Jieyang County Museum, was built in the 1950s. It is a local comprehensive museum in the city. Now it is a branch level institution directly under Jieyang culture, radio, television, press and Publication Bureau. The museum is responsible for the collection, display and scientific research of cultural relics in Jieyang area. It has been taking the Confucius Temple (Academy) in Jieyang as the site of the museum. After years of collection and donations from the public, it has collected about 20000 pieces of cultural relics. There are four fixed furnishings in the museum, namely "scientific examination", "unearthed cultural relics in Jieyang", "exhibition of Comrade Zhou Enlai's activities in Jieyang" and "statues and tablets of Confucius, Si Pei, 12 philosophers". It is also one of the first named patriotic education bases in provinces and cities. It often organizes calligraphy and painting exhibitions, science popularization exhibitions and other patriotic education activities for primary and middle school students and recruits.

Historical evolution

The museum was established on June 26, 1958, under the County Cultural Bureau. In 1962, the museum was transformed into a showroom under the leadership of the county cultural center. In 1963, the people's Government of Guangdong Province reiterated and announced the memorial site of Jieyang Academy's "revolutionary activities for Comrade Zhou Enlai" (in 1957, Jieyang Academy was listed as the provincial ancient building protection unit and revolutionary memorial site). In 1966, the Cultural Revolution began, and the exhibition rooms stopped. In May 1979, the establishment of the museum was restored, and the site of the museum was still in the Academy, under the leadership of the County Cultural Bureau. In 1957, Jieyang Academy (Confucius Temple), the site of Jieyang Museum, was listed as the memorial site of the former site of Comrade Zhou Enlai's revolutionary activities and the provincial protection unit of ancient buildings. The Academy was first built in the 10th year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1140). The main buildings are Zhaobi, Lingxing gate, panchi, Dacheng gate, Dacheng hall, dongxiwei, dongxizhai, Chongsheng temple and Zunjing Pavilion. The main buildings are large columns, red tiles and green eaves, with central axis layout and high platform palace structure. The whole academy covers an area of 158 million square meters (the existing part). The museum uses the main building on the central axis of the Academy. It covers an area of 6344 square meters.

Collection

The museum has 1425 pieces of ceramics, 1052 unearthed cultural relics and 931 ancient calligraphy and paintings. 4251 ancient books. He has exhibited four special exhibitions, including Confucius ● Confucianism, imperial examination, unearthed cultural relics in Jieyang, and the site of Comrade Zhou Enlai's revolutionary activities. Main responsibilities
