Shita Lake Park

Shitahu park is located in the east of Huai'an City Center, the east section of Shuanggui road under shuangqiaozi viaduct. The park covers an area of 410 mu, with undulating hills, vast terrain, lush trees and quiet environment. There are some scenic spots in the park, such as wintersweet garden, Begonia Garden, crape myrtle garden, bamboo forest, fishing pool, spring stone mountain forest, gingko Pavilion, YuMingXuan, etc. it is a famous park in Huai'an City.

Construction process

Shitahu Park was originally Wangtang in the north of the city. It used to be an area of garbage stacking, sewage gathering and serious environmental pollution, covering an area of 3.5 hectares (2.4 hectares of water surface). In October 1996, the municipal government made a major measure to comprehensively renovate and construct shita lake, which was arranged by the Municipal Construction Committee and implemented by the landscape department. In December 1996, the construction started. After six months of hard work, it was opened to the general public free of charge on June 1, 1997.

Previously, in 1986, the municipal government allocated funds for the construction of a 1000 meter long (4000 square meters) round lake road to build a square pavilion with double eaves and eight pillars. The municipal government and 83480 troops stationed in Huaihe are jointly built by the army and the people, and the troops stationed in Huaihe are provided with property rights and labor, which are funded by the government. In the same year, the army and the municipal company pulled earth to fill the pond, widened Renmin North Road, and expanded the land area of 0.24 hectares. The municipal company was responsible for building 120 meters of revetment, 260 meters of railings, and 100 meters of viewing platform. The garden department is responsible for the green space construction of Garden Road, mainly laying 560 square meters of Garden Road and 9 flower beds (600 square meters).

In 1992, a new large-scale axe chopping stone bonsai was built. Three stone towers were set in the middle of the lake, with 1348 trees, 27 kinds of trees, shrubs, flowers and trees planted, and 1200 square meters of lawn paved. The lighting project was mainly combined with the characteristics of the park. Garden lights were set around the lake, neon lights were installed in the main scenic spots, and 12 advertising light boxes were set up near Renmin South Road to facilitate tourists to travel at night. In the same year, he was commended by Jiangsu provincial government.

There are mainly entrance building group view, Fangxiao paradise group view, Fengwan tea house group view, as well as other cruise box office park auxiliary rooms.

The park is located in the old city, and it is close to the Youth Palace, district cultural center and City Museum (old museum). It is a good place for teenagers and the elderly to rest.
