China Nuo culture museum is located in Dongshan temple, Tongren City, Guizhou Province. Nuo culture is composed of Nuotang opera and Nuo techniques, which is known as "living fossil of drama".
Nuotang opera, originated from ancient Nuo dance and Nuo sacrifice, is a very ancient and primitive form of drama. It is characterized by no make-up, distinguishing the identity and personality of the characters with masks, accompanied by percussion music such as gongs and drums. It has nine tunes, 13 tunes in total, and mostly performs with simulated actions. Its content and performance form integrate religious superstition, mythology and historical stories, which is very complicated and rich Strong mystery. In recent years, many Chinese and foreign scholars have come to visit copper, which is regarded as "the most vivid folk art". In 1989, Tongren Nuo opera mask was exhibited in Shenzhen, which attracted the attention of Chinese and foreign scholars. Premier Li Peng once wrote a personal inscription praising Nuo culture. There are three exhibition rooms in the museum. The museum has a collection of Nuo opera masks, various costumes, music libretto and ritual objects for experts to study and visitors to watch.
