Chengshuidong tourist area (formerly the "131" project of the Chinese people's Liberation Army) is located in Gaoqiao Town, Xian'an District, Xianning City, Hubei Province. Introduction to scenic spots

In 1968, the Sino Soviet border situation was tense, and the country was ready to fight. Chairman Mao Zedong ordered Wang Dongxing to build a wartime house for him in southern Hubei. Under this background, the Chengshui cave underground project was built after the chief of staff of the then Military Commission signed an order on January 31, 1969 and personally selected the site. The whole project is mysterious and legendary. It was originally planned to invest 300 million yuan. Later, because Lin Biao usurped the party and seized power, it was stopped in 71. The actual completed investment is still as high as 130 million yuan. The main building is composed of 56 Mu courtyard on the ground and 456 meters underground tunnel facilities. The whole project is divided into three areas: A, B and C.

On the ground and underground, there are bedrooms, combat rooms and guard rooms for some central leaders and key military commission personnel, and advanced facilities for communication, ventilation, moisture prevention, bullet proof and shock wave prevention. It is located in Gaoqiao Town, Xianning City, Hubei Province, 80 kilometers away from Wuhan in the north, 150 kilometers away from Yueyang in Hunan in the south, only 17 kilometers away from the hot spring where Xianning City is located, close to the Beijing Guangzhou line and 107 National Road, with convenient transportation.

historical background

In the late 1960s, the armed conflict between the Chinese army and the Soviet army took place on Zhenbao Island, and the international situation was very tense. In response to Chairman Mao's call for "digging deep holes, accumulating grain extensively, not seeking hegemony" and "preparing for war", the climax of war preparation project was set off all over the country. The Central Military Commission decided to build a combat headquarters on the south line of the Yangtze River in the hinterland of central China in case of urgent need in wartime . Huang Yongsheng, then chief of the general staff of the Central Military Commission, personally selected the site and started the construction after signing the order on January 31, 1969, so it is called "131" project. The project is a typical representative of China's national defense project, which is divided into two parts: underground and ground. It is composed of three areas: A, B and C. the original planned investment is 300 million yuan, but the actual completed investment is still as high as 130 million yuan due to the "9.13" incident. The main building is composed of a 56 Mu courtyard on the ground and a 768 meter battle command center underground. The ground engineering is composed of many buildings which echo each other and form a large courtyard. Special No.1 leader building is the palace of Mao Zedong and Jiang Qing, special No.2 building is the palace of Marshal Lin Biao and ye Qun, and special No.3 building is the palace of General Huang Yongsheng. In addition, there are dormitories and related living facilities for the security forces. The architectural style is blue brick and grey tile, the appearance is simple, elegant and solemn, the interior decoration is high-grade and chic, and the craft is exquisite. At that time, it can be called the first-class in China. The underground project covers an area of 3288 square meters and consists of a 456 meter long main road and two branch roads for ventilation and communication. Each entrance and exit is equipped with a large lead door to prevent nuclear radiation, poison and shock wave. There are 131 rooms with different specifications and uses. It includes Mao Zedong room, Lin Biao room, Huang Yongsheng room, combat command room, communication command room, electromechanical equipment room, power generation and distribution room, living service area, etc. Each room is equipped with a numbered telephone jack, which can be connected with the major military regions of the country. It is also equipped with cistern, warehouse, dining room, kitchen, heating, dehumidification, ventilation, communication, disinfection and other equipment and facilities.

In 1981, the "131" military project was handed over to the former Xianning district administrative office. Instead of using the original military code, it was named "Chengshui cave" after the place name. The central, provincial and municipal governments have invested a lot of funds in the maintenance and transformation of the original facilities, and added a large number of tourist service and reception facilities. Now it has developed into a national AAA tourist area integrating tourism, leisure and vacation. The main scenic spots are: 131 underground military castle, No.1 special leader Mao Zedong's palace, Jiangjun mountain, Jiangjun cemetery and its exhibition hall, Chairman Mao's portrait exhibition hall, bonsai flower garden, etc. Supporting service facilities include guest rooms, restaurants, meeting rooms, etc. The chengshuidong tourist area is surrounded by mountains, with luxuriant forests, beautiful scenery, birds singing and flowers fragrance, fresh air and pleasant climate. Since its opening to the outside world, it has received nearly ten million tourists.
