Shanxi Geological Museum
Shanxi geological museum is a comprehensive public welfare cultural institution. It is a provincial cultural infrastructure construction project invested and constructed by the people's Government of Shanxi Province. It is one of the key projects of a strong cultural province in Shanxi Province.
Shanxi geological museum is located in the West Bank of Fenhe River, Wanbailin District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, southwest of Yifen bridge, Taiyuan Library in the north, Shanxi Museum in the south, Binhe West Road and Fenhe Park in the East, Wangjing Road in the west, with a total construction area of 31000 m2.
Development history
Shanxi geological museum is located in the West Bank of Fenhe River, Wanbailin District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, southwest of Yifen bridge, adjacent to Shanxi Museum, with a total construction area of about 31000 square meters.
The predecessor of Shanxi geological museum is the Geological Museum of Shanxi geological department, which was founded in 1960. The new museum was founded on March 1, 2007 and completed in 2014. It is named Shanxi geological museum.
The theme exhibition of the new museum is made up of four parts: space time, ancient species, earth treasure and Wuhua Tianbao. It displays the geological history, biological evolution, mineral resource endowment and mineral and rock essence of Shanxi. Most of the exhibits are found in Shanxi Province, such as Stegosaurus and yunganosaurus found in Zuoyun County, Tyrannosaurus Rex found in Tianzhen County, and rhinoceros labiatus found in Xingxian county. In particular, the Shanxi alligator fossil found in Jixian county is the only one in the world, which provides an important basis for the study of the Middle Triassic Ken's fauna in China. Another important display, "goutoujin", weighing 425g, is known by experts as "the first gold in North China", and its formation and discovery process is also full of legend.
It was built and opened in 1960. Formerly known as the Geological Museum of Shanxi geological department, it was renamed as the geological and mineral exhibition hall of Shanxi Bureau of Geology and mineral resources in 1982, and later changed into the Museum of Shanxi geology and mineral resources. At that time, the museum collected 7324 specimens, of which 2910 were on display. It includes 50 arts and crafts mineral raw materials, 20 handicrafts, 98 ore deposits, 271 minerals, 281 rocks, 430 paleontological fossils, 12 stratigraphic sections and 338 various ores. Some exhibits have certain scientific research value. For example, Xishan standard section specimen, Wutai system, Hutuo system stratigraphic section specimen, Linxian Zijinshan alkaline complex specimen, Lumu fossil, iron meteorite specimen and geological structure specimen. The iron meteorite specimen is from Lingshi County. It was found in 590, the 10th year of kaihuang reign of Sui Dynasty, and weighs 6.5 tons.
On March 1, 2007, the foundation laying ceremony of Shanxi geological museum was held in Taiyuan. This marks that the "six major projects" of social public welfare undertakings in Shanxi Province have entered the start-up stage in an all-round way. The total investment is 150 million yuan and the construction period is 18 months.
On May 1, 2017, Shanxi geological museum was officially put into operation.
architectural composition
The overall shape of the museum reflects the concept of "a round sky and a round place". The lower part of the building is like a "treasure box" made of natural boulders, covered with a grid like "Pearl curtain", and the upper flat circular exhibition hall looks like a "jade Bi" across the sky. Inside the hall, China's first concrete spherical "dome cinema" can accommodate 100 people to watch high-tech panoramic sci-fi movies at the same time.
The internal display system of the exhibition hall can be summarized as "one line and two points". The first line is the basic exhibition, which consists of four thematic exhibition lines: "through time and space", "ancient species", "earth treasure" and "Wuhua Tianbao", showing the audience four parts of Shanxi geological history, biological evolution, mineral resources, minerals and rocks; the second point is the thematic exhibition of two parts of Shanxi surveying and mapping knowledge and land resources. The whole exhibition hall propagandizes, educates and disseminates the geological related scientific knowledge of Shanxi Province through the interactive form of display and popular science.
A theme exhibition called "exterior, interior, mountains and rivers" is ready in the museum. The theme exhibition consists of four parts: time travel, ancient species, earth treasures and natural treasures. From the big bang to the formation of galaxies and the structure of the earth, the exhibition hall focuses on the types, structures and structures of meteorites. Ancient species can be said to be a highlight exhibition hall of Shanxi geological museum. It displays the paleontological fossils with Shanxi characteristics. The representative discovery and relatively complete fossil species include Shanxi alligator and parakenstein in Chinese Kenyan fauna and Cretaceous Dinosaur fauna. Among them, the Shanxi alligator specimen on display was found in the Triassic strata near the Yellow River in 2010, which is the most complete skeleton preserved in the world. In the earth treasure exhibition area, Shanxi's three dominant minerals, namely coal, aluminum and iron, will be mainly displayed. An important exhibit in this exhibition hall, weighing 425g, is called "the first gold in North China" by experts. Because it looks like a toad, it is also known as "North China Golden Toad". Its texture is relatively pure, and its purity can reach more than 90%. It has been discovered and preserved in the history of Shanxi Province The biggest piece is worth as much as 5 million yuan.
Collection
Treasure of town hall -- Shanxi alligator
Two meter recovery model appears in full
"As the top predator of Kendall fauna, Shanxi alligator is a kind of large crocodile with a body length of more than 2 meters and a strong jaw, which is widely distributed in Yushe, Wuxiang, Jixian and other places in our province..." Wang Runfu, the former director of Shanxi Geological Museum, said that the skeleton fossil of Shanxi alligator unearthed in Jixian County of Shanxi Province in the exhibition area of "ancient species" of Shanxi geological museum is the most complete skeleton preserved in the world. As the treasure of the exhibition hall, the specimen of Shanxi alligator in the exhibition hall was newly discovered in the Triassic strata near the Yellow River during the construction of Shanxi Geological Museum in 2010. It is the most complete skeleton preserved in the world. It not only provides anatomical information of skull and spine, but also expands the paleogeographic distribution area of this group, and modifies the identification characteristics of Shanxi alligator, The phylogenetic relationship is also analyzed. Another hadrosaur found in Zuoyun County was named as Datong Yungang dragon.
Golden Toad in China: a fist sized "dog head gold"
"Goutoujin" is the second treasure of Shanxi geological museum. Goutou gold is famous for its appearance like Goutou when it was first discovered. It is formed by denudation and transportation of gold in rocks under long-term weathering, denudation and other geological processes, and finally deposited in the sand gravel layer of the lower reaches of the gold deposit and gradually accumulated. This natural gold occurs in yaoyan gold deposit in Lingqiu County, Datong City, Shanxi Province. Yaoyan gold deposit is the most famous placer gold deposit in Shanxi Province. Weighing 388 grams, the exhibit is also known as "Chinese Golden Toad" because it looks like a toad. Its texture is relatively pure, and its purity can reach more than 90%. It is the largest piece discovered and preserved in the history of Shanxi Province.
The largest dome cinema in China
"Dome screen cinema" is also known as the ball screen cinema. Different from other museums in China, the dome cinema of Shanxi geological museum is the largest reinforced concrete structure dome cinema in China. The auditorium of the cinema is a dome structure with a semicircular screen. The audience is surrounded by the screen. The screen has a great influence and is clear. It extends from the front of the audience to the back of the audience, and is accompanied by surround sound. The audience is just looking up at the sky.
Many rare astronomical phenomena such as solar eclipse, lunar eclipse, comet, meteor shower can be reproduced and predicted in the cinema. In addition, the planetarium, together with auxiliary instruments, can also demonstrate the colors of other planets beyond the earth that only astronauts can see.
