Tianshuigou site
Tianshuigou site is located in the east of Jiefang village, Dali County, Shaanxi Province. It is a Paleolithic site, 300000-500000 years ago.
Early human skull fossils were found in the tianshuigou site, which was named "Dali Man". There are many kinds of mammal fossils, such as stone products, ancient rhombodonta, Sanmen horse and rhinoceros. Abundant stone products and mammal fossils reflect the characteristics of human production and life at that time and their paleoenvironmental background

The tianshuigou site is well preserved and plays an important role in the study of early human evolution in China and East Asia.
Tianshuigou site was approved as the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council in 2001

Early human skull fossils were found in the tianshuigou site, named Dali Man. The skull of Dali Man is thick, with well-developed brow ridge and backward forehead. It has obvious physical characteristics of transition from Homo erectus to early Homo sapiens and is close to Peking man.
Main features
However, the parietal bone is larger, the occipital bone is concave in front, the nasal bone is narrow and long, and the orbit is nearly square. Although the zygomatic bone is relatively forward, the snout is not prominent, and the brain capacity is 1120 ml. these characteristics are more advanced than those of Peking man.
Unearthed stone tools
The age is about 200000 years ago. More than 800 pieces of stone products have been found, mainly small flake stone tools, including scrapers, pointed tools, stone cones and carving tools
