Located in the center of Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Museum was founded on May 1, 1957. It is the only comprehensive museum at the autonomous region level in the whole region and the earliest Museum in ethnic minority areas in China. The building area of the museum is more than 15000 square meters, and the exhibition area is 7000 square meters. The exhibition hall building of Inner Mongolia Museum has unique shape and ethnic characteristics. There is a flying horse on the top of the building, symbolizing the auspiciousness and take-off of Inner Mongolia. The building has become one of the landmark buildings in the capital of the autonomous region since its completion.
Inner Mongolia Museum
The Inner Mongolia Museum is located in Xinhua East Street, Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia. As a key project of the 10th anniversary of the founding of the autonomous region in 1957, the former Inner Mongolia Museum is the only comprehensive museum at the autonomous region level in the region. It is also one of the earliest museums in the national minority areas. It was listed in the world architectural history as early as the 1950s. In 2007, Inner Mongolia Museum was officially established, with a construction area of more than 15000 square meters and an exhibition area of 7000 square meters. It is a national first-class Museum.
Historical evolution
On May 1, 1957, the Inner Mongolia Museum was completed.
In 2007, the Inner Mongolia Museum, located at the intersection of East 2nd Ring Road and Xinhua East Street in Hohhot, was completed, and the cultural relics on display in the former Inner Mongolia Museum were also relocated. The former Inner Mongolia Museum building has been taken over by Hohhot Museum.

In March 2008, Inner Mongolia Museum was awarded the national education base for national unity and progress, and it is also the only national first-class Museum in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
On November 16, 2009, Inner Mongolia Museum won the 2009 Luban Award of China Construction Project (national quality project) from the Ministry of housing and urban rural development of the people's Republic of China.

The basic exhibition of Inner Mongolia Museum is open to the public for free all the year round. Please make an appointment at least one day in advance for free visit, and the audience can get tickets to visit with the appointment number.

Alcoholics, disheveled people and people with no or limited capacity are not allowed to visit the museum without guardians; no cameras, photos, flash lights and supports are allowed in the exhibition hall; consciously accept the security inspection, and do not bring flammable and explosive, controlled equipment, liquid objects and other dangerous goods into the museum.
