Sanmen County, belonging to Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, is located in the northeast coast of Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province. Tiantai Mountain in the west, Sanmenwan in the East, Ninghai County in the north and Linhai City in the south. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The central and western regions are low mountains and hills, and the eastern region is coastal plain.
In 1928, the Communist Party of China launched a peasant armed uprising near the pavilion and established the first Soviet regime in Zhejiang Province, which was liberated on February 17, 1949. As of 2014, the county covers an area of 1510 square kilometers, including land area of 1103 square kilometers, under the jurisdiction of 6 towns, 1 Township and 3 streets, with a total population of 438000.

Historical evolution
Sanmen County has been inhabited by human beings since the Neolithic age. In Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, Ouyue was located. The spring and autumn and Warring States belong to the state of Yue. In 306 BC, Chu destroyed Yue and belonged to the state of Chu. In the Qin Dynasty, Sanmen was subordinate to Minzhong Prefecture. In the third year of emperor Huidi of Han Dynasty (192 BC), Sanmen County belonged to the state of Dongou. In the sixth year of Jianyuan, Sanmen County belonged to Kuaiji county. In the second year of the first Yuan Dynasty (85 BC), Sanmen belonged to Huipu county and Kuaiji county. During the reign of Emperor Guangwu of the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 25), Sanmen belonged to Zhang'an county.
During the period of Emperor Wu of the Three Kingdoms (222-252 A.D.), Linhai county was established. Sanmen belonged to Linhai county and Kuaiji county. In the second year of Taiping of Wu Shaodi (257 A.D.), Linhai county was set up in the east of Kuaiji County, and Sanmen belonged to Linhai county.
In Sui Dynasty, the county was abandoned as a state, and Linhai county was changed into Chuzhou. Sanmen belonged to Linhai county and belonged to Wuzhou. In the first year of Daye of emperor Yang of Sui Dynasty (AD 605), the Prefecture was changed to county, and Sanmen belonged to Yongjia County.
In 618, Linhai county was changed into Haizhou, and Sanmen was subordinate to Haizhou in 621. In the fifth year of Wude (622 AD), Haizhou was changed to Taizhou, and Sanmen belonged to Taizhou. In 1277 ad, Taizhou was changed to Taizhou Road, which belonged to Zhedong road of xingzhongshu province.

It is within 100 km from Ningbo Airport and Luqiao airport. In 2009, the Ningbo Taizhou Wenzhou Railway was officially opened to traffic. In 2013, Sanmen County formed a "three vertical and one horizontal" county transit traffic network. With good shipping conditions, Sanmen County is one of Taizhou's water transportation centers, and its cargo ships can directly reach Ningbo, Shanghai and other Southeast Coastal Ports and surrounding countries.
