Rhinoceros well
In yuhou street in the south of Chenzhou City, there is a magic ancient well. The well is made of long stones. It is rectangular, more than Zhang long, eight or nine feet wide and about one Zhang deep. The water is clear to the bottom. There is a huge stone lying in the well. There is a layer of moss and water grass around the well. It looks like a big rhinoceros with strong body and abundant hair. It plays under the water. This is the famous rhino well in Chenzhou, formerly known as Yongquan.
brief introduction
Rhinoceros well is located in T-shaped street of Chenzhou City (also known as yongshuimen, now in the middle of Gancheng Street). It is the largest high-quality well in Chenzhou street. It not only has clear water, but also uses this water to make tofu and wine, which is quite different from other well water. Therefore, at that time, the bean curd and wine making workshops in Chenzhou were concentrated in yongshuimen (T-shaped Street), Gancheng Street (zhujiaba Street) and Shanghe Street (now Gancheng Street) near the well, accounting for more than 30% of the whole city; and the residents nearby also used the water from the well. At present, although tap water is used in the whole city, many residents still come here to carry water every day. The reason is that the water quality of this well is too good, especially in hot summer and autumn. Drinking this water to quench thirst is better than ice water, and it is beneficial and harmless. Whenever it is hot, people from the countryside will drink water when they pass through the city. It's really a good spring. It's warm in winter and cool in summer. The water quality is very pure. The residents around are fond of drinking.
legend
Legend 1: in ancient times, Shennong brought nine rhinoceros to Chenzhou, which made Chenzhou a prosperous place. However, the good time did not last long. A evil dragon came from somewhere and brought the plague to Chenzhou. In order to defeat the dragon, nine rhinoceros fought with it for nine days and nine nights. Finally, the dragon was defeated. Eight rhinoceros drove the dragon out of Chenzhou and chased it to the East China Sea. Another rhinoceros fell into the well of Yongquan because he hurt his foot in the fight and became a huge rock lying at the bottom of the well. From then on, the well was called "rhinoceros well.".
Although the rhinoceros in the well turned into a stone, its spirit did not disappear. It saw that the plague brought by the dragon was rampant in Chenzhou, which made the people destitute and desolate. Then it spewed out a cool and sweet spring water from its mouth. When people got sick, they could be cured by drinking a well of water. Therefore, people also call rhinoceros well "Yuquan".
Legend 2: there were nine rhinoceroses in Chenzhou. One night, they went to Longmen pool to steal rice seedlings. A farmer who went to irrigate the water at night found that the rhinoceros ate rice seedlings. Of course, the farmer was distressed and went to catch up with them. The last rhinoceros was broken by a farm hoe. The wounded lame cow can't walk any more and lives in this well.
The other eight rhinoceroses turned into adults in moxintang, went all the way to huangnaiao, bolingping, woniping and other places, and finally settled in qingcaohuangjia (under the jurisdiction of Zixing City). Since then, qingcaohuang family has been prosperous, rich and talented. There was once a horse attached official. Until the end of the Qing Dynasty, there were countless Jinshi and scholars. Jinshi Huang chunxun was one of them. It is said that he died of illness in the period of the Republic of China.
In order to prevent the lame cow from escaping again, the people of Chenzhou built the East Tower, the south tower and the West Tower successively with the help of the government and the people, so as to suppress the evil spirit and make the ancient city of Chenzhou prosperous forever.
Later, an illegal businessman brought goods to Chenzhou for sale. He stayed in yongquanmen warehouse above rhinoceros well. This man has a bad mind, but he can recognize treasures, and knows that Ganoderma lucidum is needed to lead the rhinoceros bait away. The merchants used Ganoderma lucidum twice in a row, but failed. Later, an old Taoist pointed out that it was not enough to rely on the fairy grass alone, but also the golden hook to hook the ox's nose. The illegal businessman couldn't get the gold hook, so he died in anger.
Rhinoceros well, according to an old man Cui who was born and raised here, after the victory of the Anti Japanese War, one morning in 1946, rhinoceros may have turned around, there was a loud noise in the well, and the water in the well was yellow, which scared a group of people who were drawing water from the well, lost their buckets and escaped. Another old lady, Duan, who has lived near the well for a long time, said: "in 1976, the rhinoceros moved again. The water in the well suddenly turned green like blue ink. For a few days, people did not dare to carry water here. "
According to the analysis of observers, the two "rhinoceros" activities happened 30 years apart. In 2006, just another 30 years later, it remains to be proved whether there is any movement in rhinoceros.
In 2010, yuhou street, the birthplace of Chenzhou City, was demolished and rebuilt, and rhinoceros well, one of the most important remains of yuhou street, was preserved.
