Yuzhu Peak
Yuzhufeng, located in Qinghai Golmud 160 km south of Kunlun mountain pass 10 km east, is the highest peak in the eastern part of Kunlun Mountain, South gentle North steep, South Slope glacier end elevation of about 5100 meters; North Slope glacier extends to 4400 meters. The top of the mountain is covered with ice and snow all the year round, without rock exposure. The snow slope is gentle. Because of the high temperature, fast melting, less precipitation and more melting than accumulation, the glaciers below the granular snow basin belong to regressive continental glaciers.
geographical environment
geographical position
Yuzhu peak, also known as kekesaijimen peak, is 6178 meters above sea level. It is the highest peak in the eastern part of Kunlun Mountain, and is 10 kilometers east of Kunlun mountain pass, 160 kilometers south of Golmud.
Climatic characteristics
Yuzhufeng area has a continental climate with annual rainfall of only 200 mm. However, in the high altitude area above 5000 meters above sea level, the rainfall is hundreds of millimeters higher than that in the piedmont area due to the influence of upper air convection. The annual average temperature is minus 5 degrees, and the extreme minimum temperature can reach minus 30 degrees. The climbing season is from May to October. The weather in May is colder and the oxygen content is lower. July, August, September and October are more suitable for climbing.
Taking June 1999 as an example, the temperature of the base camp at night is - 3'c ~ 2'c, which is usually above 10'C in the daytime, and it can reach 20'c when the weather is clear and windless; the precipitation is affected by the large circulation, and there is no obvious period, so we can refer to the medium range forecast before going up the mountain to make the climbing plan; it is worth noting that the weather on the mountain has a small period, which is usually good in the morning, with clouds and light snow at noon, This phenomenon is more obvious on the south slope than on the north slope.
April to October is the climbing season of Yuzhu peak, the weather conditions are relatively good, five days a weather cycle, the snow is relatively hard, but it does not hinder walking.
Main attractions
South slope route
In 1990, the mountain ridge route of Peking University mountaineering team (S1): the base camp is on the river beach at the end of the glacier in the southwest of the main peak, climbing along the gravel slope of the southwest mountain ridge. At the junction of the southwest mountain ridge and the south slope of the main peak, C1 is located, with an altitude of about 5500 meters. Above C1 is a snow slope with an average slope of 35 degrees.
In June 1999, the route from southwest slope to south slope (S2): the base camp is located the same as above, climbing along the gravel slope on the right side of the glacier, tying ice claws to the junction of rock and ice, and continuing up the snow slope. There is a small platform in the middle of a rock ridge closest to the main peak, where C1 is built, with an altitude of about 5600 meters.
In May 1999, Guizhou youth Exploration Association - southeast slope to south slope route (S3): the base camp is at the end of the glacier in the southeast of the main peak, and below C1, it needs to pass through the crack area on the glacier.
In June 1999, the luogeyin mountaineering guide team started from Golmud, passed through Nachitai and Xidatan along the Qinghai Tibet highway, passed the Kunlun Pass, left the Qinghai Tibet highway before the 2900km milestone of national highway 109, and drove 10 kilometers along the simple highway to reach the base camp of 4900m above sea level on the South slope of yuzhufeng. Jeeps, trucks, minibuses and even minivans can drive directly to the base camp.
North Slope route
In 1997, Peking University mountaineering team: all three glaciers along the north slope can reach the top of Yuzhu mountain, and the route of glacier No.2 (N1) and glacier No.3 (N2) (from east to West) is the route already reached. The characteristics of the northern slope route are that the climbing route is not clear at the foot of the mountain (the part above 5600m is blocked); secondly, it is necessary to climb over other mountains before climbing, such as 5819 and 5920 on glacier 2 route).

The preliminary work of the project has been completed and is now in the bidding stage; the base camp of mountaineering training base has a total investment of 221 million yuan and covers an area of 800 mu, mainly for the construction of reception center building, desert car track, motorcycle track, rock climbing center and rock climbing auxiliary building The feasibility study report and project approval have been completed.
Yuzhu peak, 6178 meters above sea level, is the highest peak in the eastern part of Kunlun mountain. Due to its moderate height and gentle slope, it is considered to be the most ideal training peak for beginners. With the completion of the Qinghai Tibet railway, the traffic conditions here are more convenient, which brings good opportunities for the opening of yuzhufeng.
Cradle of mountaineers in the world, paradise of adventure tourists
Yuzhufeng, 6178 meters above sea level, is the highest peak in the eastern part of the Kunlun Mountains. The unique natural landscape and suitable height make it the cradle of amateur mountaineers in the world and the paradise of Alpine adventure tourists.
On August 20, 2009, after the third China Japan South Korea college students mountaineering exchange activity was officially launched in Golmud City, Qinghai Province, Wang Yongfeng, deputy director of mountaineering management center of General Administration of sport of the people's Republic of China, and his party came to the base camp on the south slope of Yuzhu mountain. In an interview with reporters, he said that Yuzhu peak, 6178 meters above sea level, is the highest peak in the eastern section of Kunlun Mountains. It is gentle in the South and steep in the north. With suitable height and gentle slope, it does not have too high requirements for climbing skills. The entry difficulty level is low. It is more suitable for beginners. It is a better training ground for mountaineers to climb snow mountain for the first time. Climbers only need to have good physical fitness and endurance, master the basic climbing knowledge, and prepare the necessary equipment, then they can try to climb yuzhufeng. Therefore, Mount Everest National mountaineering training base is not only the cradle of amateur mountaineers in the world, but also the springboard to Mount Everest.
According to the relevant personnel of the provincial Mountaineering Association, the natural conditions on the north and south sides of Yuzhu mountain are not the same. The south side is 5050 meters above sea level, flat and wide. The climbing route on the south slope is clear, and the climbing technical requirements are low. The north side of Yuzhu mountain is Xidatan, which is a narrow valley with a sea level of 4200 meters. However, the route on the north slope is complex, and the three glaciers along the north side can climb Yuzhu mountain. On the way, we will encounter ice wall, ice crack and other terrain. Climbers can gain Alpine experience on the south slope and learn it on the north slope
