School history

In the autumn of 1932, Chen fengjiang, director of the Fourth Department of defense of Nanhai County, commissioned Mr. Li Jingzong of Nanhai business association in Hong Kong to build a rural middle school in 239 district.

In the spring of 1933, the school board with fengjiang as its chairman appointed Li Jingzong as its president. On the one hand, it is based on Lishui simultaneous learning house to recruit students; on the other hand, it is located in Beicun village, with more than 60 mu of land. As the site of the school, it is named Shimen middle school after the meaning of "Shimen huizhao", one of the eight sceneries in Yangcheng.

In the autumn of 1935, the school moved from Lishui to Beicun. During the war of resistance against Japan, Shimen middle school went through many times and persisted in running schools in Lishui, Hong Kong and other places. After the victory of the Anti Japanese War, Shimen middle school resumed in the spring of 1946, and enrolled students in the autumn of the same year.

In 1949, the school developed to ten junior high school classes, with more than 400 students. After liberation, Shimen middle school was taken over by Nanhai county government.

In 1959, Shimen middle school became one of the key middle schools in Foshan and was rated as the provincial advanced school.

In 1966, the "Cultural Revolution" came. The teachers of Shimen middle school were persecuted and the school was destroyed. After that, Shimen middle school once became a community run middle school of Yanbu commune.

In 1978, Shimen middle school was restored as a key middle school in Foshan area and Nanhai county. After the implementation of the intellectual policy, the school got new students.

In 1978, Shimen middle school resumed three-year junior high school and two-year senior high school

In 1985, Shimen middle school stopped running junior high school and became a senior high school, but then resumed junior high school.

In 1986, Shimen middle school became an ordinary high school.

In 1993, our school was rated as one of the first batch of provincial level schools in Guangdong Province.

In 1994, Shimen middle school established a model high school.

In 1997, there were 10 classes in senior one, and three years later, there were 30 classes in senior high school.

In 1997, the enrollment of junior high school teachers' children's class was cancelled, and junior high school classes were no longer attached.

In early 2003, Shimen Experimental Primary School and Shishan campus of Shimen middle school were established.

Foreign exchange

Shimen middle school is the first school in Guangdong Province to join the China Association for International Cultural Exchange (AFS). AFS is one of the flagship programs of cross-border cultural exchange and learning for middle school students. Since 2005, more than 40 students of Shimen middle school have been or will be sent to the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Mexico, Brazil and other places for 10 months of study and exchange. At the same time, we also received 30 students from Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Bolivia, Japan, Thailand and other countries to study and exchange.
