TVB city is the headquarters of TVB and some of its companies. With a land area of over 93000 square meters, the TV broadcasting city is mainly composed of six production and administration buildings: 11 storey main block, variety studio block, drama studio block, news and car park block, workshop block and link block.
In addition, there is a satellite ground station and an outdoor shooting site covering an area of about 12500 square meters (mainly Guzhuang street and minchu Street).
TV broadcasting City
TVB city is located at 77 Juncai street, Tseung Kwan O industrial estate, Tai Chi Sha, Tseung Kwan O, New Territories, adjacent to Shaw Studios. It is the headquarters of TVB limited and some of its companies. TVB city is the largest tenant of Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Corporation, occupying an area of more than 93000 square meters, and TVB is the first service industry organization to enter the city.
As early as 1998, the TV broadcasting city began to be planned to replace the old TV city in clear water bay. On March 8, 2000, a groundbreaking ceremony was held in the TV broadcasting city. On August 8, 2002, the first drama video studio was opened, and five drama video studios in the drama video studio building were officially put into operation. Since April 2003, 10 variety video studios located in the building of the variety video studio have been put into operation one after another. Until September 21, 2003, the news and Information Department moved into the TV broadcasting city. The whole project took more than three years. On October 12, 2003, the TV broadcasting city was officially opened, and the TVB held the opening ceremony at 4:30 p.m. on that day.
The total construction area of the TV broadcasting city is more than 110000 square meters, 30% larger than that of the clear water bay TV city. It consists of six production and administration buildings. In addition, there are satellite ground stations and an area of about 12500 square meters for outdoor shooting. The total investment of the whole project is about HK $2.2 billion, of which about HK $1.6 billion is for construction and HK $600 million for digital equipment.
Since 2007, TVB has invested an additional HK $400 million to upgrade the video recording facilities in the broadcasting city to match HD TV broadcasting. At present, there are four HD TV recording factories in the TV broadcasting City, which will increase to nine in 2008. At the same time, a non-linear network based on server has been established to facilitate the post production of HD programs. Meanwhile, HD broadcasting equipment has been added to the general control room.

Distribution of facilities and buildings
The broadcasting building of TV broadcasting city is the administrative and production engineering center of wireless, with a height of 11 floors, of which 4 floors are post production facilities such as broadcasting control room, dubbing room and editing room, and the rest floors are offices of various departments and branches. This building is the tallest building in the industrial estate.
There are 22 video factories in the TV broadcasting City, including 5 drama video factories, 7 news video factories and 10 variety video factories. Although "No.1 video factory" covers an area of 1300 square meters, it is still smaller than "No.8 video factory", the largest one in Asia. The "Earth" outside the factory will also be used as the outdoor shooting site of No.1 Factory from time to time to produce large variety shows. The video studio, dubbing room and recording room in the broadcasting city all have requirements for sound insulation effect. In particular, European and American consulting companies are invited to make plans to reduce the impact of external noise on production.
In the workshop building, it is mainly for the production and storage of materials needed for the program, including the setting and costume design office, the costume warehouse, the props warehouse, etc. there are also garment workshops, woodworking workshops, and even automobile repair workshops, etc. to provide the resources needed for the program production. The location, which covers an area of over 10000 meters, is redesigned according to the "ancient costume Street" and "early Republic Street" of the old TV city. It is the only existing location for ancient costume and early Republic shooting in Hong Kong.
In addition, the wireless information department is located on the ground floor of the news and parking lot, with facilities such as a video studio and a reference room. The parking lot on the fifth floor of the building provides about 380 parking spaces for employees. On the top floor of the building is the satellite signal receiving center, which is equipped with 9 groups of large satellite antennas to receive satellite frequency bands from various places for the use of the broadcasting control room and the Department of public information. There is also a satellite ground station for wireless pay TV, in which there are 10 groups of satellite antennas, which can download or upload data and images to different satellites.
As the TV broadcasting city covers a large area, with more than 1000 employees working in the city, different security and staff supporting facilities have been set up, such as their own security, first aid, fire brigade, and even small fire engines to meet the general security needs. In terms of staff support, there are two floors of staff restaurant and cafe. Shanghai Commercial Bank has set up a branch in the city to provide banking services for its employees. It is one of the few bank branches set up in Hong Kong.

Rent dispute
In June 2004, the Hong Kong Apple Daily reported that the Hong Kong Science and technology park company leased the seascape land to wireless with a "special discount", so it should pay the foot price of the Waterfront Lot instead of the inland lot price. At the same time, it also refers to the "sharp reduction" of the wireless land price and the preferential low interest rate. Some members questioned whether there was an unfair situation, and some tenants were dissatisfied that they could not get the same discount.
TVB issued a statement on June 9, 2004 to clarify that TVB city is not the waterfront area referred to in apple, but an inland area close to the landfill. Apple also ignored that TVB city is the largest piece of leased land in the history of industrial estate. TVB is not Apple's report to change the terms of the contract. As early as February 1999, the Hong Kong Industrial Estate Corporation has promised that TVB will also be granted retroactive land price concessions if it announces any land price reduction arrangements for Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate on or before March 31, 2000.
