Shifeng Temple
synonym
Shifeng temple in Fu'an generally refers to Shifeng Temple (temple in Fu'an City, Fujian Province)
Shifeng temple is also called Shifeng Guanghua temple. It is located at the foot of Shifeng mountain in baizhuyang, Fuan City, 30 kilometers away from the county seat. The temple was built in the first year of Tang Jingfu (892). Emperor Wuzong of Ming Dynasty once visited the temple. He inscribed a plaque on the temple "Guanghua Zen forest" and presented a poem. In the poem, there is a sentence "the square pool moves the fish and peeps at the visitors, and the sound of the half ridge draws the wind from the bamboo".
It was rebuilt in the Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty (1796-1820). The temple covers an area of 13000 square meters. Sitting on the west facing east, standing by the mountain, the building is magnificent. Although it lasted for thousands of years, the temple still existed. It is one of the earliest and largest temples in the history of Buddhism in East Fujian. With unique architectural style and high historical value, the hall is rare in China. As the former revolutionary site, it was approved as the second batch of provincial cultural relics protection units by Fujian Provincial Government in October 1985 and the Sixth Batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council on May 25, 2006. In addition, the temple also has a large number of ancient literati's masterpieces. In 1991, Zhao Puchu, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference and President of the Chinese Buddhist Association, personally named the temple "Shifeng Temple".
Architecture in the temple
Shifeng temple is composed of four main buildings: Tianwang hall, Daxiong hall, Fatang and Guanyin Pavilion. The four buildings are built on the same central axis, and other buildings are symmetrically divided on both sides. The layout is well arranged, simple and elegant, showing the obvious architectural style of the late Tang Dynasty. When visitors enter the Tianwei hall with carved beams and painted buildings, they see Maitreya's belly open and smiling; the Bodhisattva and the heavenly king are awe inspiring. After passing the archway, a statue of Wei Tuo, a Dharma protector, was erected on his back. If you cross the patio and enter through the steps, you will find the grand hall. In front of the main hall, you can see the ridge of the Tianwang hall. The eaves are three fold, just like a tower, with rich shape. The main hall is full of cigarettes and spotless everywhere. It is a real clean place. The hall is more than 13 meters deep, 10 meters wide and 14 meters high. There are 24 square granite columns, 8 of which are 2.2 meters high and more than 5 meters high, supporting the roof beams and rafters of wood structure. There are still 16 stone pillars around the hall, with a circumference of 11.8 meters, supporting the cornices. The windows, beams, boards and walls around the hall are exquisitely carved with various patterns. Standing in the hall, you can see a well with overlapping brackets, a hexagonal caisson in the middle, and a dragon and Phoenix painted on the top. Although the design has been going on for many years, you can still vaguely imagine the style of that year. The main hall is of double eaves and wood structure, which is similar to the main hall of Hualin temple in Fuzhou. The columns extend out neatly, just like the architectural form of Song Dynasty.
Behind the main hall is the Dharma hall. FA Tang is a wooden structure with a single eaves and a top. It is 13 meters high and 9 meters high. There are flower beds, monk rooms, guest rooms and kitchens on the two sides of the hall. In December 1933, more than 150 peasant representatives from Fuan and Xiapu met here under the chairmanship of Zhan Rubai, ye Fei and Zeng Zhi. The meeting decided to establish the red belt Association of eastern Fujian and the Soviet regime to carry out the agrarian revolution. After liberation, the Civil Affairs Department of Fu'an county set up a monument here for protection.
After the Dharma hall is the Guanyin Pavilion, in front of which there is a clear pond with red carp in it. There are camellia, peony, Chimonanthus and other flowers by the pool. Guanyin pavilion next to a millennium old cypress, 14 meters high, old stem new branches, vibrant. According to the temple monk: without this temple, there was this cypress first. There is a poem in Chen Baoyou temple, the Jinshi of Ningde in Ming Dynasty: "the horse hoof is temporarily stationed in songguan, and the flavor is like the mountain of monks. At the beginning of the mountain trees, the color of the clouds rises, and the court flowers fight for the beauty in the rain. Fu Cai wants to be cool in the south wind, but he is ashamed to be idle with Liu Ying. The West peak of the extreme eye is further to the west, and there is no need to delete it. "
Xiantong Temple
It is said that when the Shifeng temple was built in the Tang Dynasty, the main hall needed columns. Each of the stone columns had thousands of loads, so they could not stand up. To build the columns, they collapsed once, and even collapsed ten times, which made everyone have no idea. At this time, a 12-year-old or 3-year-old boy came out of the crowd and said, "it's useless. I'll stand for you... " Adults also did not care, said: "whose children, also learn to talk big! Go, go The child said seriously, "don't you believe it? First, lift all the pillars to the side of the pillars; then bring me eight lines, and I'll show you! " Someone said, "let him have a try." We started to lift the stone pillar to the side of the pillar. Someone really brought eight lines to the child. With eight threads in his hand, the child spoke in an adult voice: "everyone out of the wall, out of the wall..." He tied the eight lines to the eight stone pillars and called "up!" Eight stone pillars, like rushes, were gently lifted by him and stood flat on the pillars. "Good!" The villagers clapped their hands in unison. They were overjoyed. Everyone enjoyed themselves for a while, and then came to see the child again. No one knew where the child had gone.
Later, strange things happened one by one. The pillars stand up, and the carpenter is busy building the circular vault for the hall, which can't be built all the time. What's more strange is that the lotus pier they made on the top of the pillar suddenly lost one. The master rushed to make one on this side and another on the other side, making one less, making two less, making one pair less.
At this time, another child was following the master to pick up firewood pieces. The master suspected that he had taken them home and burned them. But he said, "I didn't steal, or I'll make one for you." The Masters said that he had a hard mouth. He didn't care. He picked up a tool and knocked it twice. Then he made a lotus pier and climbed up to the top of the stone column and put it in easily. "Little monk, please make a basin of paste!" the child cried When the paste was finished, he put the short pieces of arched wood into the paste basin and dipped them in the next row. In this way, he dipped them in one row, one row, one row, one row. In a few hours, the thousands of arched wood were arranged and the vault was made. The following masters were shocked to see the gains and losses, and their eyes were straight! When the carpenter woke up, the child disappeared again.
Shifeng temple has been built. The gods came to help build it. The story has been handed down from generation to generation. Now, when we go to Shifeng temple, we can see that there is a lotus pier on a big stone pillar, which is different from others. It is made by the child. There was no nail or beam on the vault of the hall, which was folded up by the fairy boy.
Imperial couplet
Fuan folk spread such a saying: "do not see the Lion Peak, do not see the temple." The reputation of Shifeng temple is growing. Emperor Zhengde once came to Shifeng temple. When he entered the temple, he saw a fish pond in the back hall. There were a lot of fish and the water was clear. I picked up a pen to write couplets. He first wrote down "Fangchi shadow moving fish peepers". Somehow, after thinking about it for a long time, he couldn't write the next sentence.
Emperor Zhengde left in a sedan chair only half of his writing. When the sedan chair was carried halfway up the mountain, a mountain wind just blew by, and the bamboo forest on the mountain made rustling noises. He suddenly thought of a sentence. He immediately got off the sedan chair and wrote down "the sound of the half ridge comes from the bamboo to attract the wind". After writing, he asked the eunuch to send it immediately.
These two couplets are still on the front wall of the fish pond of Shifeng temple. It's just that the handwriting of the two couplets is not the same. Because the first half of the couplet was slowly written in the temple, the characters were relatively neat. The second half of the couplet was written in a hurry on the road, and the characters were also scribbled.
natural environment
The surrounding environment of Shifeng temple is quiet, surrounded by mountains and lush trees. It looks like two lions on the whole. In front of it, there are Bijia mountain, "flying geese come to court" and "Koi floats up". On the left and right sides of the temple, there are mountains and peaks, and the panoramic view is as magnificent as that of animals. The important plants in the temple are red bean tree and sandalwood tree, which were planted in the Tang Dynasty. Verdant trees, covering the sky, can be the treasure of the town temple. It is said that because a deer jumped into the Luquan under the sandalwood tree, the water from this well can make people smart. Some people call it "smart spring". There are 160 Buddhist scriptures in the temple.
