In order to foster the spirit of scientific exploration of pathologists, the architects used creative ideas to design square pointed white columns in several corners of the top of the main building and extend them outwards.

It is the bacteriological laboratory established in 1906. It is the first building specially designed for medical laboratory in Hong Kong. It is located near the plague site in Taiping mountain area in the past. It has a main building and an animal house with manger and bungalow staff dormitory. Over the years, the institution has been quietly serving the medical community in Hong Kong. Due to the expansion of its service scope, it has evolved into a pathology laboratory and continued to provide services in its original site until 1973.
Since the government declared the building a statutory historic site, the Hong Kong Academy of Pathology, in order to make people aware of its potential and pay more attention to the medical history and technological development of Hong Kong, has applied to the authorities to change the warehouse building into a museum.
