Suzhou Silk Museum
Suzhou Silk Museum is located in beishouta scenic area, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. It is a professional silk museum. The museum was officially opened to the public on September 21, 1991 and free of charge from October 1, 2013. Suzhou Silk Museum covers an area of 9500 square meters, exhibition area of 4000 square meters.
Suzhou Silk Museum has six exhibition areas: History Museum, modern museum, children's Science Museum, mulberry garden and silk weaving machinery exhibition room, Qian Xiaoping silk culture and art museum. The history museum includes six parts: Ancient hall, cansangju, weaving and dyeing workshop, gongzhiyuan, Minguo street and intangible cultural heritage hall. As of August 2019, the museum has more than 700 pieces of cultural relics from the Neolithic Age to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and more than 3000 pieces of specimens and materials.
In 2009, Suzhou Silk Museum was rated as a national third-class Museum, and was awarded the first-class qualification for the restoration of movable cultural relics (weaving and embroidery).
Historical evolution
On October 28, 1989, Suzhou Silk Museum opened in Taohuawu Tangyin temple.
On September 20, 1991, the new Suzhou Silk Museum was completed.
In October 2005, the Suzhou Silk Museum was closed for three months, and the exhibition of the ancient museum was adjusted for the first time since the new museum was built 14 years ago.
On January 18, 2006, Suzhou Silk Museum reopened.
In December 2011, the new exhibition hall of "Gusu Jinyuan" was opened to the public.

As of August 2019, there are 13 scientific researchers in Suzhou Silk Museum, including 1 researcher of cultural and Museum series, 3 senior engineers of Engineering Series, 1 senior engineer, 1 associate researcher, 1 engineer and 3 librarians.
Reproduction of cultural relics
In 1986, Suzhou silk museum began the research on the reproduction of silk embroidery relics. The project of "reproduction of silk fabrics of Shang Dynasty, Warring States period and Han Dynasty" won the third prize of 1991 cultural relics science and technology progress award of the State Administration of cultural relics. "Research on the reproduction of Tang Dynasty brocade unearthed from Dulan hot water in Qinghai Province" won the first prize of scientific and technological progress of cultural relics in 1995 by the State Administration of cultural relics. A total of four national first-class cultural relics have been reproduced, namely, the mirror pattern brocade with four small nests in a cluster, the Phoenix brocade with four continuous beads in a cluster, the bird brocade with Baohua group and the ruiniaozhou brocade with petals group. Suzhou Silk Museum participated in the project "excavation and exhibition of textile weaving technology of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty" of the State Administration of cultural relics, which won the second prize of "science and technology innovation of cultural relics protection" of the State Administration of cultural relics in 2010. Suzhou Silk Museum is responsible for the duplication of four silk fabrics. They are "hunting pattern brocade" unearthed from No.6 coffin of Eastern Zhou Dynasty tomb in Jin'an, Jiangxi Province, "Fengniao Fu geometric pattern brocade" and "Lingge hexagonal pattern tapestry" unearthed from No.1 Tomb of Mashan, Jingzhou, Hubei Province, and "hollow beveled edge belt" unearthed from baling factory site in Jingzhou. Suzhou Silk Museum participated in the "Research on silk fabric virus and its prevention" and "Research on technical specifications for textile protection" of the State Administration of cultural relics, undertook the analysis of ancient silk cultural relic restoration cases, and participated in the formulation of restoration specifications; undertook two National Cocoon and silk risk fund projects, copied 5 ancient silk products, and developed nearly 10 imitations, including "Reproduction of ancient precious silk, development of ancient lost silk craft clothing products" won the national excellent achievement project of cocoon and silk in 2004. He has undertaken the cultural relic protection and restoration projects of Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Commission and Suzhou Municipal Science and Technology Commission. Among them, the "development of silk antique fabric" won the 1999 Suzhou science and technology progress "research Cup" award; the "research and development of silk antique fabric and clothing" project won the 2001 Jiangsu Provincial Science and technology progress third prize and the "development and research of brocade of the Sixteen States of Jin Dynasty" won the 2003 Suzhou science and technology progress "award The third prize of Suzhou science and technology progress in 2003, the third prize of Suzhou science and technology progress in 2003, and the third prize of Suzhou science and technology progress in 2005. In 2009, the Provincial Department of culture's cultural science and technology and art research project "innovation of traditional brocade technology and art development research" passed the provincial appraisal; in 2012, the key project "Suzhou traditional Zhang Satin technology research" of Tsinghua University's art and science research center "Qipai Intangible Cultural Heritage Foundation" was accepted as "excellent"; in 2013, the research funded project "Suzhou science and technology history" by China Association for science and technology, The results were included in the national science and technology think tank of China Association for science and technology; in 2014, the science and technology development plan project "Suzhou silk culture and technology integration innovation demonstration project" of Suzhou science and Technology Bureau passed the appraisal of Suzhou science and Technology Bureau.
Restoration of cultural relics
In terms of cultural relic restoration, Suzhou silk museum began to study the restoration and protection of silk cultural relics in 1999. In 1999, at the invitation of the State Administration of cultural relics, a large-scale "gold embroidered Satin longevity curtain on the red site of the Qing Dynasty" was restored for the Spanish Embassy in China. Suzhou Silk Museum has completed the restoration of more than 130 pieces of silk costumes unearthed in song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties and more than 40 pieces of collections for Nanjing Museum, Jiangyin Museum and Zhenjiang Museum.

Suzhou silk pattern of a hundred years, CO edited by Suzhou Silk Museum and Suzhou Municipal Bureau of culture, radio, television, press and publication, won the third prize of the 11th Suzhou outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences.
The professional and technical staff of Suzhou Silk Museum participated in the compilation of such professional books as Chinese clothing classic, practical Encyclopedia of silk, complete works of Chinese traditional crafts silk weaving and dyeing, Chinese brocade, chengshibei brocade, history of Suzhou science and technology, complete works of Chinese brocade, Suzhou silk annals, etc.
As of 2019, Suzhou silk museum professionals have published more than 30 papers on silk, Jiangsu silk, historical relics and other academic journals.
