The Yellow River Gallery, also known as the Baili water erosion relief of the Yellow River, is located in the Qikou section of the Grand Canyon of the Yellow River in Shanxi and Shaanxi. It is a precious natural heritage in the world. It was formed in the Triassic period. It is a natural cliff relief formed by the combination of groundwater dissolution and river erosion with Triassic thick sandstone. Because there are a lot of orthoclase and quartzite in the thick sandstone, orthoclase gradually decomposes under the conditions of water dissolution, river erosion, wind erosion and sunshine, and quartzite falls off from the thick sandstone. Therefore, natural relief sculptures in the shapes of stone ditch, niche, grotto, stone book and various animal forms are formed in the sandstone.
Note: the Yellow River gallery is about 20 kilometers up the Yellow River in Qikou ancient town~
