Beiyang Garden

Located in Tianjin University, Beiyang garden is an "open-air museum", which integrates the historical vicissitudes of the majestic University, square, sculpture, gardening and fountain.

Beiyang Park was built at the request of our alumni to welcome the centennial anniversary of our school. The first phase of the project was completed on the eve of the anniversary in 1995. All the funds needed for the construction project were donated by alumni, reflecting the deep friendship of alumni at home and abroad for our alma mater. The bronze statue of Ma Yinchu was completed at the same time.

If you are a tourist, you can enter the beautiful Tianda from the east school gate during the festival. First of all, the square fountains come into view. Looking from the small arch bridge, Beiyang garden is located on the east side of Tailei Road, corresponding to Beiyang square. Its overall style is elegant and heavy. There are not too many flashy carvings and colorful colors. Only the spirituality of water, the gray of stone, the green of grass and trees are in sight. Surrounded by a bay of water, it embellishes the spirit of Tianda and breeds Tianda's wisdom. Architecture and sculpture not only show the simple and dignified sense of history incisively and vividly, but also imply Tianda's strength and persistence The tall trees in different shapes and the orderly lawn are fresh, natural and vigorous, which is the interpretation of Tianda's youth.

Beiyang garden was rebuilt on the eve of the 110th anniversary of Tianjin University in 2005. It is an "open-air museum" integrating the history of the majestic University, square, sculpture, gardening and fountain. The landmark Beiyang Memorial Pavilion stands majestically in the garden, symbolizing the height and breadth of "Beiyang"; the Three Gorges stone engraved with "dream come true", "dedicated" sculpture of "reading girl" and eight square stone tablets engraved with the school motto "seek truth from facts" in the supine garden seem to warn students to adhere to the truth, study hard, inherit tradition and serve the country. As the biggest highlight, three groups of fountains with different shapes are distributed in the garden, which has become the main theme of Beiyang garden. They either "bloom" like trumpet flowers, or are slender and beautiful water forest, creating a hazy dream of water mist, full of dynamism and romance.

When it comes to the 1980s and 1990s, people will never forget the scene of Beiyang garden full of trees and lush. Before the 110th anniversary of the University, people may have stopped at the sundial donated by the graduates of 1999 to count the passing time Beiyang garden has become the birthplace of campus culture. Around the Beiyang Memorial Pavilion is the largest square of our school. All kinds of colorful celebrations, exhibitions, arts and sports activities are often held here.
