Gouxiang temple is one of the earliest temples in Aba Prefecture with a history of more than 1000 years. It is the center of local Bon religion in Zoige county. There are ancient and mysterious scriptures in Xiangxiong script. The annual God's coming dance is held every year. The most unique feature of this temple is the religious rituals and script collections different from those of several major Tibetan Buddhist sects.
Gouxiang Temple
Gouxiang temple is located in Gouwa village, Qiuji Township, Ruoergai County. It is one of the earliest temples in Aba state. It has a history of more than 1780 years and is of great scale. It is the central temple of Bon religion in Ruoergai County. There are 7 inner temples and 18 outer temples under Gouxiang temple, which command 128 temples, including some temples in Diebu County, Gansu Province.
There are more than 300 sets of magic weapons, more than 1500 scriptures, more than 150 thangkas, thousands of Bodhisattvas and several generations of master xiangpa's relics. Master xiangpa of 26 generations devoted his whole life to the prosperity of Bon religion and made outstanding contributions. In order to commemorate the master forever, the believers cremated his body after his death and put the ashes in the silver tower for later believers to worship.
