Graduate School of Nanjing University

Nanjing University is the first comprehensive university in China to recruit and train postgraduates, formerly known as National Central University and Jinling University. After the founding of new China, Nanjing University resumed postgraduate enrollment in 1954. In 1978, Nanjing University once again became one of the first batch of universities to resume the recruitment of graduate students. In early 1995, the office of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the National Education Commission made a comprehensive evaluation of 33 graduate schools in China, and then approved the establishment of the Graduate School of Nanjing University.

In 1994, Nanjing University was identified as a key university supported by the national "211 Project"; in 1999, Nanjing University entered into the first batch of high-level universities under the national "985 Project"; in 2006, the Ministry of education and Jiangsu Province signed an agreement on the key construction of Nanjing University again; in 2011, the Ministry of education and Jiangsu Province signed an agreement on the key construction of Nanjing University; in 2016, Nanjing University signed an agreement on the key construction of Nanjing University Nanjing University was selected as one of the first batch of national innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration bases; in 2017, Nanjing University was selected as the list of class a world-class universities, and 15 disciplines were selected as the list of world-class disciplines.

Nanjing University has a number of strong basic disciplines, and its international influence has increased significantly. In 2012, in the third round of first level discipline evaluation organized by the degree center of the Ministry of education, three first level disciplines ranked first, nine first level disciplines ranked top 3, and 16 first level disciplines ranked top 5. By the end of April 2013, a total of 12 disciplines have entered the global top 1% of ESI, among which chemistry and materials science have ranked among the top 100 in the world.

Main functions

General Office

(1) Assist the president to coordinate the daily administrative work of the graduate school;

(2) Responsible for the management and use of various funds;

(3) Responsible for monthly work summary, semester work summary and work plan summary and report;

(4) Responsible for the management and use of printed letters, sending and receiving letters and documents, management and filing;

(5) Responsible for computer network and information management;

(6) Responsible for external reception and liaison, organization and arrangement of all kinds of meeting affairs;

(7) Responsible for the president's office meeting and the hospital's work meeting;

(8) Be responsible for the personnel salary of the staff;

(9) Responsible for the management and use of all kinds of goods.

Admissions Office

(1) Organization of doctoral enrollment;

(2) To organize the enrollment of postgraduates;

(3) To organize postgraduate enrollment in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan;

Training Office

(1) To formulate or revise various rules and regulations and reform measures for the management of postgraduate training in Nanjing University;

(2) To formulate or revise the discipline and professional training plan for postgraduates, and supervise and inspect the training measures for postgraduates;

(3) Responsible for inspecting and supervising the updating of the teaching content of graduate courses, formulating the construction plan of graduate courses, organizing the compilation, funding and publishing, and updating teaching materials, etc;

(4) Responsible for the daily teaching management, curriculum arrangement, teaching plan implementation, organization of public course teaching, including teacher recruitment, textbook ordering and printing, examination, etc;

(5) To be responsible for the procedures of public sending postgraduates abroad and studying abroad at their own expense, the extension of Postgraduates abroad and the restoration of their status after returning to China, the examination and processing of their overseas achievements and academic certificates, etc;

(6) To be responsible for the examination of the admission qualifications of international students in China, and the degree and course teaching management of foreign and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan postgraduates;

(7) Responsible for the management of graduate student status (enrollment, registration, transfer of grain and oil account, distribution of various materials);

(8) To handle the transfer, suspension, resumption, major transfer, drop out, early graduation, delayed graduation, master's and doctoral continuous education and other procedures of graduate students, and be responsible for the issuance and management of graduate certificate, school emblem and graduation certificate;

(9) Audit the payment standard of graduate student grants, and cooperate with the financial department in the daily management of graduate student grants;

(10) Report all kinds of statistical reports to the Ministry of education and Jiangsu Provincial Education Commission regularly;

(11) Responsible for the evaluation of the quality of graduate education in various departments, combined with their own work, engaged in the scientific research of degree and graduate education management.

Degree Management Office

(1) To be responsible for the qualification examination of doctor's and master's degrees of the whole university, and to cooperate with the degree committee of the university to organize the examination and approval of doctor's and master's degrees awarded by various departments;

(2) To be responsible for the qualification examination and management of in-service personnel applying for doctorate and master's degree with the same educational level;

(3) Responsible for organizing the selection and management of doctoral tutors, and the approval and management of master tutors;

(4) To be responsible for the selection, award and reporting of excellent doctoral and master's theses;

(5) To be responsible for the random inspection of doctoral and master's dissertations;

(6) Responsible for the plan reporting, teaching management and fund settlement of postgraduate courses in and out of each department;

(7) To be responsible for the acceptance and management of the postgraduate courses and training on behalf.

Ideological education and Management Office

(1) In accordance with the requirements of the University, formulate rules, regulations and plans for the ideological and political work of postgraduates, and organize and implement various major publicity and theme education activities for postgraduates;

(2) To be responsible for the moral education evaluation of postgraduates, the political examination of postgraduates, the graduation appraisal and the recommendation of excellent graduates to employers;

(3) Be responsible for the daily behavior management, life management and dormitory management of graduate students, and participate in all kinds of student education activities of the school;

(4) Responsible for the evaluation of postgraduates (excellent postgraduates, excellent postgraduates cadres, pacesetters), the evaluation and award of various scholarships, and the management, evaluation and award of Nanjing University Shichuan Liangyi Excellent Youth Education Fund;

(5) To be responsible for the work of the extremely poor students and the distribution of various kinds of difficulties subsidies;

(6) They will work with the human resources department and organize the implementation of the "three assistance" work for graduate students;

(7) To guide the work of the Youth League Working Committee and the graduate Association, various community activities and campus cultural activities, and to guide the distribution of graduate students of Nanjing University;

(11) To be responsible for the management of the "work study fund for postgraduates" of the whole university, and to carry out the work study work for Postgraduates in combination with the needs of the University's career development and the actual situation of postgraduates;

(12) Cooperate with banks and hospitals in the development of graduate loans, medical insurance and Ping An insurance, including assisting in the repayment of loans and claims;

(13) Assist the school to do a good job in campus stability, and be responsible for the handling of all kinds of graduate emergencies and disciplinary violations;

(14) Regular investigation and Research on Ideological and political work of postgraduates, and Research on moral education and ideological and political work of postgraduates;

(16) Responsible for the supervision of graduate school network and graduate network information.
