Development history
The park was originally a shanty town, commonly known as "chaomibang". In the August 13 incident of the Republic of China, most of the shanty towns were destroyed by Japanese artillery fire. Since then, refugees have been rebuilding their homes here, but in 1953, a big fire once again burned the shantytowns here to ashes. The Municipal People's government decided to rehouse the victims and turn this place into a park. In October 1953, the gardening Department of the park management office of the municipal works bureau designed and organized the construction, which was completed at the end of that year. The park opened on January 1, 1954 without admission. Due to the original traffic road outside the south wall of the park, it is named traffic park.
In order to build underground air defense works, the park has been closed since 1972. During the construction, the roads, pavilions, children's amusement facilities and plants in the park were damaged to varying degrees. In 1977, the reconstruction of the park was started. Zhang Yiwei, the design office of the municipal garden department, was responsible for the overall planning, and the greening engineering team of the municipal garden department was responsible for the construction. The project started on September 9 of the same year, including the reconstruction of roads, upper and lower drainage channels, walls, gates, toilets, demolition of simple houses, and the construction of rest rooms on the original foundation. The reconstruction project was completed at the end of 1978 and the park area was expanded to 15800 square meters. On January 1, 1979, the park was reopened and changed to ticket entry.
The rest corridor on the west side of the gate of the park is a half corridor, 30 meters long and 12.1 meters wide. It is of brick and wood structure. On the top of the xiaoqingwache mountain, there are different shapes of leaky windows on the corridor wall. There are five groups of round tables and benches made of bluestone outside the corridor, two flower beds with scattered Lake stones, and plants such as Podocarpus arvensis, Mahonia sinensis and Aucklandia. In the middle of the park, there are two dancing sculptures of young girls. They are carved in white marble, 1.8 meters high and 0.5 meters high. Under the sculpture is a large Holly flowerbed, next to which there are three slightly higher flowerbeds. Inside the flowerbeds, there are some plants, such as Yeji, boxwood, etc. In the west of the garden, there is a Wisteria frame with a mixed structure, 16.6 meters long and 6.5 meters wide, covering an area of 78 square meters. The floor is paved with colored marble fragments.
