Founded in 1929, Zhejiang Provincial Museum, formerly known as "Zhejiang provincial West Lake Museum", is the largest comprehensive museum of Humanities in Zhejiang Province, integrating collection, display and research, with a collection of more than 100000 articles. Among them, pottery, lacquerware, wood, bone and ivory of Hemudu culture, jade and silk of Liangzhu culture, bronzes of Yue State, Celadon of Yue Kiln, Longquan kiln, Guan kiln of Southern Song Dynasty, ancient bronze mirrors of Kuaiji and Huzhou, and works of calligraphers and painters of Zhejiang in Ming and Qing Dynasties are all well-known cultural treasures.

In 1993, the reconstruction and expansion project of Zhejiang Provincial Museum was completed. The new Museum covers an area of 20400 square meters, with a construction area of 7360 square meters. There are 10 new pavilions, including the Museum of historical relics, celadon, calligraphy and painting, coin, LV Xiaguang Art Museum, Chang Shuhong Art Museum, and Ming and Qing furniture museum. The museum buildings are composed of single buildings and corridors with rich regional characteristics in the south of the Yangtze River, forming a unique pattern of "Museum in the garden, garden in the museum".
Zhejiang Provincial Museum is a national first-class Museum.
On October 11, 2018, he was selected into the list of "national primary and secondary students' research and practice education base".
Historical evolution

GUSHAN museum is located in Gushan, West Lake, Hangzhou. It is mainly composed of the main building, Zhejiang West Lake Art Museum and Wenlan Pavilion, the Royal Library. The main building has three floors, with Ceramic Museum, celadon Museum, lacquerware Museum and other pavilions. The first floor mainly displays some pottery, the second floor and the third floor mainly display porcelain, the second floor mainly includes Yue Kiln porcelain, Longquan porcelain, etc., and the third floor is some porcelain from the Ming and Qing dynasties or later, and each floor has a 3D touch pad, so you can see the exhibits from all directions. On the east side of Gushan Museum, Zhejiang Xihu Art Museum mainly displays some painting and calligraphy works. In addition, there are two special exhibition halls: Huang Binhong painting and calligraphy Museum and LV Xiaguang Art Museum. Zhejiang Provincial Museum is the largest comprehensive museum of Humanities in Zhejiang Province, which integrates collection, display and research. The collection includes cultivated rice and lacquer bowls from the Hemudu culture of the Neolithic age; silk and linen from the Liangzhu culture; various bronze weapons, bronze farming tools, printed pottery and primitive porcelain from the Yue State in the spring and autumn and Warring States periods; specimens from various celadon kiln systems from the Eastern Han Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty; and a large number of ancient and modern paintings, including religious paintings of the Tang Dynasty, painted pure land changes, and "fuchunshanju" by Huang Gongwang of the Yuan Dynasty The other half is now in Taiwan. Qiantang River Tides
The exhibition hall of "qianjiangchao Zhejiang modern revolutionary history exhibition" is located on the second floor of the Wulin area of Zhejiang Provincial Museum, with an exhibition area of about 1700 square meters. The exhibition is divided into five parts in chronological order: "Nanhu red boat and the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China", "the torrent of the great revolution", "the storm of the Agrarian Revolution", "the Anti Japanese war on both sides of the Qianjiang River" and "the road to liberation". It shows the glorious course of the liberation of Zhejiang Province led by the Communist Party of China. Taking the major revolutionary struggle activities in Zhejiang Province as a horizontal point, through modern display techniques, including the use of large-scale scenes made according to historical materials, the important historical moments and the lamentable revolutionary deeds are vividly reproduced. The exhibition displays more than 550 precious historical pictures and 450 collections, including 17 national first-class cultural relics. It also displays a number of large-scale revolutionary oil paintings and sculptures, striving to fully and vividly show the magnificent revolutionary history of Zhejiang.

The exhibition hall is located on the ground floor of the Wulin area of Zhejiang Provincial Museum, with an exhibition area of about 2000 square meters. It is divided into five parts: "the dawn of civilization", "the kingdom of ancient Yue", "the three Wu capitals", "the best in the Southeast" and "the complex two Zhejiang". The exhibition is dominated by Zhejiang's cultural character of "diligence, diligence, cultivation and war". In terms of the display style, it stresses delicacy and atmosphere, and is introverted and full of tension. A total of 2000 pieces (groups) of cultural relics are on display. Combined with modern means such as scene restoration, model reproduction, picture creation, multimedia audio-visual and so on, it shows the unique charm of Zhejiang in different historical stages. The Qiantang River, which runs eastward, enters Hangzhou Bay, which is called "Houhai" in ancient Yue, and crosses a zigzag curve, leaving a name for this land: Zhejiang.
Extraordinary voice
The exhibition hall of "extraordinary aspiration: Chinese Guqin in the world intangible cultural heritage" is located on the third floor of the Wulin area of Zhejiang Provincial Museum, covering an area of more than 300 square meters. It is divided into three units: "the history of Guqin", "the production and performance of Guqin" and "the interpretation of Guqin collection". The "Guqin history" unit mainly makes an objective and systematic statement on the origin of guqin, the formation of Guqin in Han and Tang Dynasties, the rise of Zhejiang School in song and Yuan Dynasties and the numerous Qin schools in Ming and Qing Dynasties by means of scenes, ink animation and pictures. The production and performance unit of Guqin introduces the structure, production process, sound and technique of Guqin by means of physical model, video clips and pictures.
Guqin is one of the oldest plucked instruments in the world. It has a history of more than 3000 years and ranks first among the four arts of "Qin, chess, calligraphy and painting". On November 7, 2003, Chinese Guqin art was officially listed in the world's second batch of "representative works of human oral and intangible heritage", becoming the common cultural wealth of all mankind.

The exhibition hall is located on the third floor of the Wulin area of Zhejiang Provincial Museum, covering an area of more than 400 square meters. This is an exhibition in the form of intangible culture, showing the most outstanding folk works of art in Zhejiang. They come from labor and life, and are rooted in villages and towns. They are not only the material evidence of Zhejiang People's smart mind and exquisite skills, but also reflect the adaptability and creativity of Zhejiang people to survive and develop in the environment of more people and less land.
The exhibition is divided into four units: sculpture art, paper cutting art, weaving art and dyeing art. At the entrance of the four units, a recognition system composed of typical patterns and characters is arranged to further strengthen the information classification.
