Kaohsiung First University of science and technology, referred to as Kaohsiung University of science and technology, Kaohsiung University of science and technology and Kaohsiung University of science and technology for short, formerly known as the "Kaohsiung Institute of technology" established in 1995 and renamed "Kaohsiung First University of science and technology" in 1998, is also the first comprehensive university of science and technology established in the metropolitan area of Kaohsiung.
At present, Kaohsiung University of science and technology has five colleges, 15 departments, 15 doctoral programs, 27 research institutes, 14 master's in-service programs, and MBA, EMBA, IMBA and other master's programs. In order to cope with the change of educational system, Kaohsiung University of science and technology will stop recruiting two-year university departments from 2011. It plans to recruit four-year undergraduate courses and new colleges and departments. In 2013, Kaohsiung University of science and technology ranked 94th and 26th in Taiwan.

National Kaohsiung First University of science and Technology (NKFUST) is short for "Kaohsiung University of science and technology, Kaohsiung University of science and technology". Founded in 1995, located in Nanzi District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, China. Formerly known as Kaohsiung Institute of technology.
In July 1998, it was renamed as "Kaohsiung First University of science and technology" with the approval of the education authorities in Taiwan. It is the first university of science and technology in Greater Kaohsiung. On February 1, 2018, the University officially merged with Kaohsiung University of Applied Science and technology and Kaohsiung Ocean University of science and technology to become the "Kaohsiung University of science and technology". School history
In 1993, the education authorities in Taiwan set up the "Preparatory Office of Kaohsiung Institute of technology" in Greater Kaohsiung. It is a university created by the Taiwan provincial government to cooperate with the "Asia Pacific Operations Center (APROC)" program.
In 1995, "Kaohsiung Institute of technology" was officially established, which is the first technical college in Greater Kaohsiung. At the beginning of its establishment, there were undergraduate programs in the departments of finance, computer and communication engineering and construction engineering.
In 1996, the Department of risk management and insurance, the Department of operational research management, the Department of information management, the Department of marketing and circulation management and the Department of financial management were established.
In 1997, the Department of environmental, safety and health engineering, Department of mechanical and automation engineering, Department of Applied English, Department of Applied Japanese and Department of Applied German were established.
In 1998, it was renamed "Kaohsiung First University of science and technology" and became the first university of science and technology in Greater Kaohsiung. In the same year, the Institute of technology, School of management and School of foreign languages were established.
In 2000, it was approved by the "intellectual property bureau" of Taiwan's economic department and passed the trademark of "Kaohsiung University of science and technology" (category 41). It has been approved by the intellectual property bureau, the Economic Department of Taiwan, as the trademark of "High Tech University" (category 16, 18, 25, 41, 42).
In 2006, a bachelor's degree program was set up in the school of electrical and information technology, School of finance, Department of electronic engineering and Department of accounting and information science.
In 2007, we enrolled senior high school students from the school of electrical engineering and information technology.

The emblem of Kaohsiung University of science and technology is made from the strokes of "Gao". Campus environment
The campus covers an area of about 75 hectares. The East and West campuses cross Nanzi District of Kaohsiung City, Yanchao Township and Qiaotou township of Kaohsiung County. They are separated on both sides of Zhongshan high school and connected by a highway bridge (University Bridge).
