Shiban street in the old city extends to the West Bank of laosui River in the East and to the south end of Guandimiao Lane in the West. It is one kilometer long and five meters wide. The street is paved with bluestone, smooth as a mirror. Its architecture is simple and elegant, showing the style of Ming and Qing Dynasties, and is now a key cultural relics protection unit. Suixi city is commonly known as "Kou Zi". In the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, it was called "the mouth of bianshui flowing into Sui". In the Jin and Yuan Dynasties, Kou Zi became the mouth of a stream flowing into Sui, so it was called "suixikou". In the Ming Dynasty, local businessmen and rich families gathered here. In order to prevent banditry, the people of Suixi dug trenches and set up fences around the residential area, and Suixi city took shape. Shiban street was initiated by Zhou Junzhe, a gentleman in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, to be resurfaced with green tile stones. This project is huge, using more than 1000 migrant workers, hundreds of ox carts, stone tens of thousands of square, took several months to lay, completely changed the "sunny dust, rainy muddy street" dirty environment. During the Anti Japanese War, Shiban street was burned by Japanese aggressors, and the Huaihai Campaign was bombed by Kuomintang planes. After liberation, the people's government allocated funds for many times to restore the stone street to its former appearance. However, after ten years of civil strife, many temples, attics and memorial archways were destroyed, and all the historical sites and cultural relics were looted. Since then, Shiban street has lost its former prosperity. In addition, in the late 1970s, the party and government organs, school groups, and industrial and commercial enterprises moved to the new town one after another, and the Shiban street became increasingly depressed. In the mid-1990s, the people's government carried out the protection and development of Shiban street in the old city.
Shiban street in Suixi old city

Development history
Shiban street was advocated by Zhou Junzhe, a gentleman in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, and was resurfaced with green tile stones. Due to the large scale of the project, thousands of migrant workers, hundreds of ox carts and tens of thousands of cubic meters of stone were used to build it, which made Kouziji (the predecessor of the old city of Suixi) more noisy and prosperous, with merchants coming in droves and numerous shops. During the Anti Japanese War, Shiban street was burned by Japanese aggressors and the Huaihai Campaign was bombed by Kuomintang planes. After liberation, the government allocated funds for many times to restore it. However, ten years of Cultural Revolution brought another disaster. All kinds of temples, attics and memorial archways have been destroyed, and cultural relics and historic sites have been looted, which makes the former prosperous stone street lose its former noise and prosperity.
In the mid-1990s, the government implemented the protection and development of Shiban street again. Today, Shiban street is booming again. There are hundreds of "front shop and back square" shops, grocery stores with various lanterns and plaques, and restaurants and snack bars. Small to needle and thread, Avenue furniture and electrical appliances, a wide range of things. Most of the shops along the street are open day and night, which reproduces the prosperous scene of Changshi. If you have a chance to go to Shiban street, don't forget to taste the famous "Wangjia Bingtang elbow", "zhangjiada plate spicy chicken" and "Dingjiazhuang steamed bun" in Shiban street. Dingjiazhuang steamed bun, in particular, is a unique one and is famous for its "pure color and taste, crisp and delicious". Suixi city is commonly known as "Kou Zi". Shiban street shops in the old city are very good at management. Most of them are "front shop and back shop". There are dozens of grocery stores with various signs hanging along the street. There are many kinds of goods in the store, ranging from all kinds of furniture to needle and thread. Shops are open day and night, so there is a saying that "there is no market for shops.".
Main attractions
Seventy two steps up the ladder. Dangdian Lane in the east end of the old city is higher in the South and lower in the north, and higher in the South step by step. According to legend, standing at the top of the alley and looking north from the partition wall, you can see the front hall gate of Xiangshan ancient temple. "Ladder" at the end of a platform, carved fence fence, can accommodate hundreds of people. At that time, people's climbing objects, performance parties and festivals were held here. Because the road is a soil foundation, which is trampled by pedestrians, and the soil is gathered into a ladder, which is just 72 level, so it is called the "ladder".
Three mountains and one well. At the south end of the Water Lane in Shiban street, an ancient well is clamped by three Wushan walls. The gables are towering and the wells are deep, forming a spectacle of "three mountains with one well". Because many wells along the street are bitter and difficult to drink, only this well is sweet and refreshing. It is said that this well is in the same vein as "Longquan", and all residents drink this well water. Therefore, there is an endless stream of people who draw water. As a result, the alleys are wet for many years, and the water flow becomes overcast, forming a famous "water alley" in the old city.
Crescent bridge. It is located at the east end of democracy Lane in the old city. There is a stream passing through the street. On the stream lies a half stone plate, which looks like a crescent moon and is smooth as a mirror. It is called "crescent moon bridge". Under the bridge, the stream is murmuring and willows by the side of the stream. At the beginning of each month, the crescent moon is like a hook. Under the crescent moon bridge, the floating light fluctuates, and the Earth Moon overpass reflects each other.
Nine turns. It is the name of an ancient lane in Shiban street. It is located in the north of the east section. Winding hundreds of meters, leading to the north gate of the back street, there are nine bends in the lane, so it is called nine bends. The lane is deep and tortuous. Sometimes it is like a maze, sometimes it is suddenly clear. It makes people feel like "the mountains are heavy, the waters are complex, there is no road, the willows are dark and the flowers are bright".
There are many famous people in the past dynasties. Yang Yilu (also known as Yang Hongyan), a generation of ghost talents, was known as "little Li Bai" because of his unrestrained talent; Ding Yan and his wife, the emperor's teacher; Zhou Junzhe, an enlightened gentleman; Wu Xiangpu, an official squire, and so on.
