Taihang Memorial Hall of the Eighth Route Army, located at 363 Taihang street, Wuxiang County, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, is a large-scale revolutionary memorial hall that comprehensively reflects the eight year Anti Japanese War history of the Eighth Route Army. It is a national first-class Museum and national AAAA tourist attraction integrating tourism and Museum value. It is directly under the Cultural Relics Bureau of Shanxi Province. There are precious historical materials and revolutionary cultural relics in the Taihang Memorial Hall of the Eighth Route Army. The museum area is mainly divided into two parts: the main exhibition area and the tourist area. The main exhibition area includes the exhibition hall of the brief history of the Eighth Route Army, the hall of the general of the Eighth Route Army, and the hall of the Japanese invasion of China; the tourist area includes the demonstration hall of the guerrilla tactics of the Eighth Route Army, the monument of the Eighth Route Army's Anti Japanese War, the stele forest of the Eighth Route Army, and the memorial Pavilion of Marshal Xu Qianqian. Construction history
In 1970, it was approved to build a new "Wuxiang revolutionary memorial hall" in Wuxiang County.
On July 1, 1972, the memorial hall was officially opened to the public.
In November 1977, it was decided to restore and expand the memorial hall, initially named Taihang Memorial Hall of the Eighth Route Army headquarters, and then the preparatory office for restoration and expansion was established.
On September 28, 1979, at the request of the Wuxiang County Party committee of the CPC, Deng Xiaoping, then vice chairman of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the fifth CPPCC National Committee, finalized and personally inscribed the name of the Taihang Memorial Hall of the Eighth Route Army. Some leaders of the Central Committee made speeches for the memorial respectively, and some experts also reviewed the display samples.
On September 26, 1980, it was agreed that the Taihang Memorial Hall of the Eighth Route Army should be restored and expanded. The provincial Party committee chose the site of the museum at the foot of Fenghuang Mountain in the west of Wuxiang County, and decided to invest more in the construction of the new museum.
On November 15, 1983, the (Architectural) design scheme review meeting was held, and the 14th design scheme was selected.
In January 1984, the initial construction project was completed, and the Provincial Planning Commission approved a capital investment of more than one million yuan.
On September 3, 1988, the opening ceremony was held.
In 2002, the Taihang Memorial Hall of the Eighth Route Army was expanded in phase II.
On August 15, 2004, when Li Changchun inspected the memorial hall, he asked to expand the scale. Then the museum was expanded and renovated.
