It is said that in ancient times, diaolu mountain was lush in forest and abundant in rain. Later, due to people's mining, charcoal burning and logging to build houses, it eventually caused a drought in diaolu mountain area. In order to save the people, a Miao youth named Nanxi stepped on a knife ladder and climbed to a peak 1499 meters high to get a Gong that could rain for the people. His spirit finally moved the little sister of the seven fairies. She took the gong and Nan Xi to hang the gong on the phoenix tree in the village to gather rain. Since then, people no longer cut trees indiscriminately. Diaolu mountain has a good weather every year, so it is named diaolu (Luoshan).
