Sutra Hall
Located at the foot of Xiangguang peak in Hengshan Mountain, Nanyue City, Hengyang City, Hunan Province, it was originally named "little Prajna Zen forest". It was founded in the second year of Chen Guangda (568) of the Southern Dynasty and was founded by monk Huisi, the founder of Nanyue Mountain.
survey
It is said that monk Huisi, inspired by Zen master Haiyin, won the battle of chess with the God of Nanyue Mountain, got the treasure land of Fuyan temple, and created the "Prajna Zen forest". Because Huisi is good at giving lectures on Prajna Sutra, the temple is named after it. Later, the "Prajna Zen" disciples gathered and the incense was very popular. Monk Huisi devoted himself to studying Buddhism, so he lived alone. He chose this quiet place and founded a small temple called "little Prajna Zen forest". It is different from "Prajna Zen forest" in the mountains. Later, in the song and Yuan Dynasties, to the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang granted a copy of the Tripitaka to be stored in the temple, and it was renamed the "Tripitaka hall".
During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, the temple was burned by fire, and the Tripitaka was not complete. Later, a minister asked the court to repair the temple and change its name to "Xiangguang Temple". Because of the secluded mountains and highlands, monks and nuns seldom come here, so they failed again. In the early years of the Qing Dynasty, the temple was once again repaired for monks to revive the Buddha's light. The temple was renamed "Puguang hall", and it was rebuilt after 1936.
The historic site in front of the hall has a spirit day, which is said to be as common as a candle and phosphorous fire at night. There is also a clear spring, which is said to be the place where empress Chen's concubine dressed up. Around the Sutra hall is a treasure house of primitive plants. There are magnolia trees about two feet high, legendary money trees and LIANLI branches, as well as rare trees such as Linden, duying and Yunjin Rhododendron.
history
It is one of the "four wonders of Nanyue". Located at the foot of Xiangguang peak in Nanyue, it was built in 568 A.D. in the second year of emperor Guangda of the southern and Northern Dynasties. It was originally named "little Prajna Chan Lin". Later, it was renamed as the Tibetan Sutra hall because Zhu Yuanzhang, emperor of the Ming Dynasty, gave it a collection of sutras to be stored in the temple. The temple was rebuilt in 1933. It is an ancient building with glazed tiles, red walls and single eaves. The temple is unique, rigorous, simple and elegant, just like a beautiful pearl embedded in the green jungle. In the 1980s, it was renovated. The hall was painted and painted with exquisite craftsmanship, and the sculpture added was vivid. In particular, the gold and copper Buddha statues presented by Mr. Huang zhangren and his wife, Ms. Ouyang Yu, were placed in the hall in the autumn of 1982. The Buddha's name is "piluzana". The pure copper is gilded, and the body is beautiful and dazzling, which adds a new color to Nanyue's cultural relics.
Architectural appearance
The building of the Sutra hall has a grand scale. The whole hall covers an area of 300 square meters. It is a palace style building with single eaves on the top of the mountain. There are 26 granite stone columns inside and outside the hall, covered with blue colored glazed green tiles, and the moon rises into the sky. The walls around the hall are vermilion, and there are stone ridges around the hall corridor. Inside and outside the hall, there are carved beams and painted buildings, resplendent and resplendent. There are no general Buddhist temple buildings here, only one hall. It is like a gorgeous villa in the mountains, looming at the waist of Xiangguang peak with flowers and trees. There are five rooms in the hall, with the Buddha Hall in the middle. There is a statue of Buddha in the hall. The Buddha statue is made of pure copper and gilded. It is 1.32 meters high and weighs 256 kilograms. It was donated by Mr. Huang zhangren, a Chinese Thai entrepreneur, and his wife, Ms. Ouyang Yu, in 1982. "Pilu Zhejian" is a transliteration of Sanskrit, which means "light everywhere", "everywhere". Piluchana Buddha is called "Baoshen Buddha", which is the leader of Lotus World in Huayan Sutra. Its seat is Chiba lotus. Each lotus petal represents 3000 worlds, and the whole rosette represents the world of China and Tibet. Sitting on the Golden Lotus terrace, piluzhana Buddha has a kind and solemn manner, and his whole body is shining with brilliance. With the exquisite carved shrine, the embroidered Buddhist utensils for religious activities, the prayer flags, the colored buildings and the long-term lights placed in front of the Buddha, the whole Buddhist hall is very solemn. In the middle of the temple, two granite pillars supporting the temple are carved with a couplet on the left and right: "my Buddha and my sect are really like the leaves of a shell; the best of the sutras is the lotus flower.".
Scenery
Around the Tibetan Sutra hall, the soil is thick, the water depth is not too low, the temperature is not too low, and the plants are easy to grow. There are precious trees such as Tilia amurensis, duying, houlike, Castanopsis eyrei, Torreya grandis, etc., which completely preserve the original vegetation of Subtropical Mountain evergreen broad-leaved mixed. Among the trees, the most interesting one is the money tree, the same root tree and the LIANLI branch tree in front of the hall.
There are also many legends about the historical sites of the Sutra hall. There is a spirit field in front of the hall. Every autumn night, the light flies like a candle, and you can see the outline of the ancient Hall of Laolin. It is suspected that the "spirit light of Lu hall" is actually caused by fireflies dancing and shining, which is also called "firefly pilgrimage". There is a dressing table in front of Lingtian, which is said to be the place where Chen Taifei, the mother of King GUI of Ming Dynasty, combs. There is also Diaoyutai nearby, which is said to be the fishing place of Zhang Lihua, the concubine of the Six Dynasties.
"The show of Sutra collection" is one of the "four wonders" of Nanyue. It is the most beautiful and colorful landscape among the eight scenic spots in Nanyue: in the East, there is Tianzhu peak with two pillars in the sky, which is surrounded by five colors of auspicious clouds; in the west, there is Leizu peak with jagged rocks, which is different from each other; in the south, there is Lianhua peak with green lotus petals and green smoke clouds; in the north, there is zhurong peak, which pierces the sky and clouds. From afar, the mountains are empty and various; from all sides, the trees and flowers are beautiful. There are hundreds of ancient trees in front of the hall. Their branches are buckled and their color is old. They look as if they have no skin. In front of the Sutra hall, on the right side of the hillside, there is a primeval secondary forest, called "unimpeded forest". It was named after monk Wuwu who got the mantle of Douer Buddha at the special terrace of Lin Wenwen. In this hundred mu of ancient forest, there are 50 or 60 kinds of evergreen trees. Some trunks are crooked, some branches and leaves are covered, some trees are wrapped with ancient vines, and some are smooth. Here, the green branches hang down to shade the sky and block out the sun.
Precious records
In August 1961, Tao Zhu, vice premier of the State Council and first Secretary of the Central South Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, came to the hall of Tibetan scriptures. He pointed to the hall of Tibetan scriptures and the ancient Chinese residence and said, "it has not been built for many years, and the road is blocked. The roads are barren and the houses are rotten. They need to be repaired and managed. If possible, new houses can be built to receive tourists. The road from Nantianmen to zangjing hall should be widened and the curve should be improved to allow cars to pass According to Tao Zhu's opinion, Nanyue Administration Bureau renovated the Sutra collection hall and ancient Chinese residence. The road from Nantianmen to zangjing hall has also been widened and straightened. It is convenient to drive directly to zangjing hall for viewing. In 1982, Nanyue Administration Bureau renovated the zangjing hall, making the Millennium ancient temple look brand new. In May 1984, Hu Yaobang visited the zangjing hall scenic spot in person. Along the stone road, he toured the ancient Huaju, dressing table and Bafeng Lingtian. He was full of praise and left a precious historical record for the Sutra hall.
He is a 40 year old Cantonese monk. He became a monk in 1991 and graduated from Putuo Mountain Buddhist College. He is also the Deputy Secretary General of Nanyue Buddhist Association in Hunan Province.
