Entering the park, the first one in front of you is a Peacock Garden with Thai architectural style. More than 100 blue and white peacocks either lie in the grass on the hillside, or roam freely in the path, looking for food at leisure, or chase each other and play.
In the herbivore area, more than 100 "native" sika deer, yak, elk (four unlike) and wild donkey roam freely in the forest, not afraid of people at all. Visitors can not only touch them with their hands, but also send the grass to their mouths or take photos with them.
Across the cable bridge is the black muntjac breeding area. Dozens of black muntjacs, a unique national first-class protected animal, appear and disappear from time to time. The black muntjac reared in Hefei wildlife park is the largest and largest in China in terms of population and breeding quantity.
There are more than 50 EMUs introduced from Australia (EMUs are the second largest bird after African ostriches, so they are sometimes called Australian ostriches). Now what is open to visitors is the construction of the first phase of the wildlife park. A larger and more perfect Wildlife Park (phase II) covering an area of more than 1500 mu is under planning and construction, and will soon be completed in front of visitors.
The construction of the wildlife park started on August 8, 1995, and the first phase of the project was completed and opened to the public in April 1997. With fresh air and clean water, it is suitable for a variety of wild animals. Now it has been built into Peacock Garden, herbivore area, Australian animal area, waterfowl lake, walking bird area, monkey garden, hundred island garden, beast breeding area, etc. Here, human beings and animals establish a healthy and harmonious relationship. Among them, Baidao garden is the largest accessible bird garden in China, covering an area of 3 square kilometers, which is composed of Swan Lake, swamp, mountain forest, etc. More than 200 national first and second class protected birds, such as Red Crowned Crane, Oriental White Stork, white swan and black swan, are kept in Baidao park. In addition, there are more than 800 various swimming birds and gorgeous ornamental birds.
On August 20, 2007, Hefei wildlife park was rated as a national 4A scenic spot by the national quality rating committee of scenic spots.
