Man juelung

Manjuelong, also known as Manlong and manjianong, is located in the south of Hangzhou West Lake and is a valley at the south foot of the south peak. Yuanxingyuan was built in the fourth year of Tianfu (939 A.D.) in the Late Jin Dynasty, and it was changed into manjue yuan in the second year of Zhiping (1065 A.D.) in the Northern Song Dynasty. Manjue means "complete consciousness", and the place is named after the temple.

Manjuelung is famous for its sweet scented osmanthus. Every autumn, sweet scented osmanthus is in full bloom, fragrant all over the empty mountain and falling like rain. Osmanthus fragrans is the city flower of Hangzhou. Manjuelong has been the most prosperous place of Osmanthus fragrans since Ming Dynasty. Today, more than 7000 Osmanthus fragrans are planted on roadside slopes and cliffside streams in this area. The trees are more than 200 years old and have become the most famous scenic spot in Hangzhou. In the golden autumn, Osmanthus fragrans are fragrant here. On both sides of the road, there are teahouses built by villagers. Visitors can enjoy the sweet and delicious osmanthus and chestnut soup, play cards, and relieve their work.
