Li Shutong memorial hall was built in hupaomengquan scenic area surrounded by mountains and singing with the sound of spring. There used to be a Buddhist temple here. It was the place where this famous modern artist and patriotic monk practiced Buddhism. Li Shutong (1880-1942), a native of Pinghu, Zhejiang Province, is a famous art educator and master of Buddhism. He studied in Japan and was good at oil painting, music, drama and calligraphy. He taught in Liangzhe normal school. At the age of 39, he suddenly became a monk and became a Buddhist. After shaving in Hupao temple in West Lake, he was named Hongyi, not Wanqing old man. After the outbreak of the war of resistance against Japan, master Hongyi, who was outside the world of mortals, enthusiastically put forward the slogan of "reciting Buddhism and never forgetting patriotism", which had a great influence. Li Shutong is one of the pioneers in creating a new era of Chinese modern culture. He first studied western music, organized the first performance group of Chinese drama, took the lead in the performance of "civilized drama" (Drama), and wrote new songs for the West Lake landscape. Among his disciples were Feng Zikai and other outstanding figures. In 1942, Li Shutong died of illness in Quanzhou, Fujian Province. Part of his remains were buried in Hongyi master tower after Hu ran. In 1984, the memorial hall was built in Hupao, displaying more than 100 pieces of his works, paintings and calligraphy, and hand copied Buddhist scriptures.

Li Shutong (1881-1942), whose name is Wentao, is a child of Chengqi. His scientific name is Guanghou, and his name is Xishuang. He was born in Hedong, Tianjin, and his ancestral home is Pinghu, Zhejiang. He moved to Tianjin in the early Ming Dynasty. Because his mother was a farmer's daughter in Pinghu, Zhejiang, Li Shutong later moved to Shanghai with his mother. He often spoke of Pinghu people in Zhejiang to commemorate his former mother. Jing once studied in Japan. He was good at oil painting, music, drama and calligraphy. He was admitted to Zhejiang Normal School. Feng Zikai and Liu Zhiping were all his students. In 1918, he suddenly became a monk and shaved in Dinghui temple in Hupao, Hangzhou. After shaving, he was named Hongyi, another old man named Wanqing. Exhibition hall layout
The museum is divided into three exhibition halls. In the center of the main hall is a three meter high bronze statue of Li Shutong. On both sides are two large relief sculptures of "detachment" and "conversion to Buddhism". The exhibits introduce Li Shutong's life story and monastic history, as well as his artistic achievements, Buddhist attainments and patriotic spirit; There are dozens of precious photos provided by Li Shutong's granddaughter, books, seals, handkerchiefs and other objects copied by Li Shutong. In the left hall, Li Shutong's ink treasures are displayed, including eight handwritten stone tablets and ten woodcut aphorisms. In the right hall, there are Xu Beihong's oil paintings, Feng Zikai's woodcuts, Fei Xini's Hongyi portrait, Qian Jun's couplets and other paintings
The memorial hall of Li Shutong in Pinghu City is located on the Bank of the beautiful East Lake in Pinghu City, covering an area of 16 mu, with a total investment of 1.98 million yuan. The unique shape of seven petals of lotus reflects Li Shutong's broad mind and noble character of "clear water comes out of Hibiscus". It has become a landmark building in the East Lake scenic area.
With a total area of 1506 square meters and a height of 24 meters, the memorial hall has two floors. On the second floor, there are seven exhibition rooms and a circular exhibition hall which can display nearly 100 paintings and calligraphy works. The exhibition room displays Li Shutong's life photos and historical materials in different periods for people to study and study. The memorial hall has become a new tourist attraction and patriotic education base in our city.
Shutong Park, where the memorial is located, is a beautiful landscape with verdant trees, singing birds and fragrant flowers, celebrity statues and small bridges and flowing water.
