The total construction area of Wuhan Museum is 17834 square meters. The display area is 6000 square meters, and the warehouse area is 4000 square meters. It has a symmetrical structure, a layer upon layer facade, a natural and rugged granite wall and a pyramid shaped triangular glass roof. The central hall of the museum is a grid glass dome.
There are three exhibition halls on the first floor; the second floor is the basic exhibition of Wuhan Museum; the third floor has an exhibition area of 1000 square meters, which is divided into one preface hall and three exhibition halls.

Activity construction
The "sunshine interpretation station" of Wuhan Museum is a volunteer platform for college students set up by Wuhan Museum and universities. The series of public lectures of "Friends of Museum Salon" organized by Wuhan Museum focus on the latest exhibitions, historical and cultural knowledge, archaeological findings, art collection and appreciation. In 2013, Wuhan Museum made an attempt in social education for primary and secondary school students, and jointly organized and planned a series of activities of "museum into campus" with Hubei Cultural and Museum Association and Wuhan education society.
Wuhan cultural museum magazine and Wuhan Museum website are two propaganda and education positions of Wuhan Museum.
Venue features
All exhibitions of Wuhan Museum use scientific research achievements and scientific and technological means to highlight the exhibition concept. Each floor of the exhibition hall has a clear theme. There are three exhibition halls on the first floor: the mysterious style of the hall of historical relics collection; the ceramic art style of the hall of ancient ceramic art; and the artistic conception of traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy. The second floor is the basic exhibition of Wuhan Museum. "Wuhan ancient history exhibition" and "towards modern Wuhan" use new technology and new materials to combine historical relics, restoration scenes and digital technology to create history and reality. In addition, the Wuhan Museum also has a multimedia touch screen and voice guide equipment for the audience.
Honors
In 2003, "Wuhan ancient history exhibition" won the highest award of National Museum exhibition - "the fifth national top ten Exhibition" award.
In May 2008, it was rated as a national first-class Museum by the State Administration of cultural relics.
On September 17, 2016, the "sunshine volunteer team" of Huazhong University of science and technology of Wuhan Museum won the title of the eighth "ten best volunteer stars of China Museum" (team).
