Beijing Art Museum
Beijing Art Museum is located in the Wanshou Temple of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Wanshou temple was built in the fifth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1577). It is a special royal temple. After several large-scale renovations by Kangxi, Qianlong and Guangxu emperors, it has formed a royal temple integrating temples, palaces and gardens. It is adjacent to the three roads in the East, the West and the East, and covers an area of 50 mu.
Beijing Art Museum now has a collection of nearly 50000 pieces of ancient works of art. From the primitive society to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it has a wide range of collections, mainly including calligraphy and painting, stele and celebrity letters, palace embroidery, palace porcelain, ancient furniture, coins and seals. He also collected more than 100000 ancient books from the Song Dynasty to the Republic of China.

Beijing Art Museum is located in a group of ancient buildings on the north side of Zizhu bridge and the middle road of West Third Ring Road in Beijing.
This group of ancient buildings is the "Chijian Wanshou Temple" built in the fifth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1577), which was changed into "Chijian Wanshou Temple" in the second year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty. After the 35th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty and the reconstruction and expansion in the four dynasties of Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong and Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty, it formed a royal Forbidden Garden with an area of 30000 square meters.
It was an important military area from 1949 to 1984 and was handed over to the Beijing Municipal People's Government in 1984. 、
In June 1985, the Beijing Municipal Government approved the establishment of the Preparatory Office of Beijing Art Museum, which was officially established in August 1987.
In 1994, the library was fully opened. In 2006, it was announced as a national key cultural relics protection unit.
Venue size
Covering an area of 30000 square meters and a construction area of 14000 square meters, the museum is a national key cultural relics protection unit. The museum uses the ancient buildings to set up five special exhibition areas, including the historical evolution exhibition of Wanshou temple, the Buddhist art exhibition, the porcelain art exhibition of Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Handicraft Exhibition of Ming and Qing Dynasties, and the painting art museum, with an exhibition area of 1000 square meters.
Collection treasures
Beijing Art Museum now has a collection of more than 80000 pieces of ancient works of art of various categories, starting from the primitive society and ending in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, especially in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The collection covers a wide range of Arts and crafts, including steles, calligraphy and paintings, ceramics, coins and seals, Ming and Qing furniture, palace embroidery, bronzes, jade, bamboo and wood teeth, lacquerware, etc.
Chinese traditional calligraphy and painting, as one of the main collection items of the museum, has more than 10000 pieces, rich in categories and various styles, with the largest collection from Ming and Qing Dynasties to modern times. The exquisite works include not only the manuscripts of various schools of Ming and Qing Dynasties and modern masters, but also the precious monuments.
The collection of weaving and embroidering works of art is famous for the palace articles of Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are not only real articles such as clothing, curtain and chair cushion, but also ornamental articles such as embroidery and wall hanging. Among them, the Dragon robes of several emperors in Qing Dynasty form a unique series. The collection contains almost all kinds of embroidery, including silk, gauze, Luo, Ling, brocade, satin, Kesi, velvet and so on. It is a precious material for studying ancient Chinese embroidery.
The foreign artworks are mainly Japanese paintings, including some utensils. Most of the collections are cultural relics of Meiji and Edo period. After years of extensive collection of foreign artworks and Japanese artworks scattered in China, the number of collections has reached more than 2000 pieces, among which there are many fine works, which is a major feature of the museum's collection.

The exhibition of the Beijing Museum of art includes "Wanshou Temple evolution", "Ming and Qing furniture exhibition", "Beijing cultural relics essence Exhibition", "Buddhist art exhibition", "Ming and Qing porcelain exhibition", "painting art exhibition" and "seal carving art exhibition" and so on. The museum has a collection of more than 50000 pieces of ancient works of art from the primitive society to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, especially the works of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are a wide range of collections, including calligraphy, paintings, steles, celebrity letters, palace embroidery, official kiln porcelain, ancient furniture, coins and seals, and so on. There are too many others, such as bronzes, jade, bamboo and wood dental horn, Buddha statues, snuff bottles, and so on. In addition to ancient Chinese works of art, the museum also collects works handed down by modern masters such as Qi Baishi, Zhang Daqian and Xu Beihong. All these collections reflect the brilliant achievements of human art civilization and represent the ancient and modern art of the Chinese nation.
