Zhu Shunshui Memorial Hall
Zhu Shunshui memorial hall was originally the ancestral hall of the Zhu family in Yaojiang. It was built in the Qing Dynasty, with three entrances and a complete pattern. Zhu Shunshui is a descendant of the old Sanfang branch of the Zhu family in Yaojiang. In 1995, the ancestral hall was established as a memorial hall for Mr. Zhu Shunshui.
Personage introduction
Zhu Shunshui (1600-1682), named Zhiyu, was born in Yuyao City, Zhejiang Province. He is a famous scholar and a pioneer of Sino Japanese cultural exchange. Zhu Shunshui followed the king of Lu to fight against the Qing Dynasty and participated in the northern expedition of Zheng Chenggong and Zhang cangshui. He had been to Japan seven times. Finally, he lived in Japan for more than 20 years because he had no hope of resisting the Qing Dynasty and recovering the Ming Dynasty, and he was unwilling to be a obedient citizen of the Qing Dynasty. Zhu Shunshui's virtue and knowledge are well received and respected by Japanese scholars, and he is honored as "Sheng Guobin Shi". A large number of his students in Japan have become famous scholars studying Chinese culture in the future. The "Edo school" with the purpose of "Shun water science" deeply influenced the Meiji Restoration and made great contributions to the progress and prosperity of Japanese society.
The memorial hall of Zhu Shunshui is located at the south foot of Longquan Mountain, Yuyao City, Zhejiang Province. The front gate faces west, and a plaque of "Zhu Shunshui Memorial Hall" is hung in front of the gate. Inside is the front and back three into the main building, sitting south, built in accordance with the mountain trend, in turn raised. The first entrance is two buildings with five rooms. The main entrance is in the middle. The plaque of "ChongXiao Temple" is hung in front of the door. It is the original name of Zhu's old Sanfang ancestral hall. The two sides were originally used for sacrifice, and the upper floor was used to place the memorial tablets of Zhu's ancestors.
Through the first step, after climbing the steep stone steps, it is the second step. It is a five bay bungalow. When you look up, you can see the four character plaque of "Sheng Guobin Shi", which is the lofty title of Mr. Zhu Shunshui by Japanese scholars. It was originally the main hall for ancestor worship, but now it is arranged for the display of Mr. Zhu Shunshui's historical relics, displaying many documents related to Zhu Shunshui, his remains in Yuyao and Japan, photos, images, ink, books and other cultural relics returned by Japanese friends.
On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Zhu Shunshui's death, a special delegation from Japan's "Mr. Zhu Shunshui memorial meeting" visited Yuyao and built a "Mr. Zhu Shunshui Memorial" on Longquan Mountain.

The structure of the whole ancestral hall is simple, orderly and powerful, which reflects the typical style of ancestral hall architecture in eastern Zhejiang in Qing Dynasty.

Zhu Shunshui memorial hall was announced as a municipal cultural relics protection unit by Yuyao Municipal People's Government of Zhejiang Province on March 19, 1997.
