In 2005, it was rated as "the most beautiful place in China" and "the six most beautiful tourist caves in China - shocking Tenglong cave" by the authoritative national geographic of China. Because of the magnificent Tenglong cave, the Navy 69l boat was named "Lichuan boat" by the Central Military Commission.
With its unique natural landscape and pleasant climate, Tenglong cave is an ideal place for tourism, recuperation, exploration and geological investigation.
In December 2015, Lichuan Tenglong cave was selected as one of the 30 Best New Tourism Landscapes in the Three Gorges.
geographical position
Tenglong cave starts from the entrance of Tenglong cave in the southwest and connects with Mingyan Gorge Scenic Spot; it ends at the entrance of black hole in the northwest and connects with Xuezhao River Gorge Scenic spot. It is a long and narrow scenic spot extending along Qingjiang River valley from southwest to northeast. The altitude in the area is above 1000 meters.
There are two main scenic spots that have been developed: one is Tenglong cave and the other is Luoshui cave.
The second scenic spot is about 6.8km away from Lichuan City, integrating mountains, water, caves, forests, stones and gorges. It is famous for its magnificent, dangerous, strange, quiet and beautiful scenery.
Cave characteristics
The whole cave group of Tenglong cave has five layers, including more than 300 large and small caves. There are mountains in the cave, and there are caves in the mountain. There is no cave in the mountain, and there is no wonder in the cave. There is water in the cave, and the water caves are connected, forming a huge and magnificent cave landscape.
Tenglong Cave Scenic Area is composed of water cave, dry cave, Liyu cave, Liangfeng cave, exclusive village, three Longmen, huaxiankeng and other scenic spots. The whole cave system is huge and complex, with the total volume ranking the first in the world. It is the best tourist cave in China. The scenery outside the cave is beautiful. The drop of wolongtunjiang waterfall at the entrance of the cave is more than 20 meters. It roars like thunder and is magnificent.
The cave entrance is 72m high and 64M wide. The highest part of the cave is 235m. The proven cave is 52.8km long and covers an area of more than 2 million square meters. The high mountain in the cave is 125m high. The highest part of the cave is 237m and the widest part is 174m.
The total length of the dry cave is 59.8 km, the height of the cave is 74 m, and the width is 64 m. It is the largest dry cave in Asia.
There are 5 peaks, 10 halls and more than 10 underground waterfalls in the cave. There are mountains in the cave, caves in the mountains, water caves and dry caves. The main and branch caves are interconnected, and there are no poisonous gas, snakes and scorpions, and pollution. The constant temperature in the cave is 14-18 ℃ all the year round, and the air is smooth. It is a wonderful place for tourism, recuperation and geological investigation.
The landscape in the cave is various and mysterious. There are more than 150 cave halls and 140 kinds of pictographs in the cave
Historical records
Tenglong cave is called Gan cave and no cave in ancient times. According to the records of Lichuan County by Guangxu of Qing Dynasty, "there is nitrate in the dry cave.
In 1884, there were more than ten nitrate collectors who entered dozens of Li by holding the candle and returned fearfully. "In addition to a little understanding of the cave from Dongkou to yuantangguan, Tenglong cave has been a huge and mysterious monster for thousands of years. As early as 1985, Zhang Lianggao, a professor of the Department of ancient architecture of Huazhong University of technology, published his article" Lichuan Luoshui cave should win the world's ranking ", which soon set off an exploration in Lichuan In order to test the upsurge of Tenglong cave, the expedition team was composed of six officers and soldiers from the people's Armed Forces Department of the county, with Zhang Guofang as the leader and Yi Shaoyu as the political commissar and instructor.
From June 1985 to October 1986, after hard exploration, the mystery of Tenglong cave was gradually revealed.
Comprehensive value
Scientific value
There are many geological wonders in the Geopark, whose systematicness, typicality, beauty, integrity and scientificity are typical representatives of the same kind of relics at home and abroad, which have world-class comparative significance and high scientific research value.
The great corridor of Tenglong cave provides the best research base for determining the relationship between crustal movement rate and karst water system change. The complete karst landform hydrological system composed of surface and underground in this area is a natural laboratory for studying the formation mechanism of large caves and the development and evolution history of rivers and underlying currents. The analysis of stalactites can obtain the information of paleoenvironment, such as growth rate, paleotemperature, CO < sub2 < / sub concentration, paleovegetation status and precipitation. The underground river and its caves are one of the most special natural ecological environments, which are rarely involved now. The research in this field will promote the research of ecological environment and cave biology in China development. A large number of Quaternary Middle Pleistocene giant panda Saber Toothed mammal fossils have been found in TENGLONGDONG Branch Cave and qingjiangyuan area, especially the first discovery of Quaternary primate fossils in this area, which provides a very important clue for the search for paleohuman fossils.
The geological heritage development conditions in the park are typical, and karst development overlaps, inherits and regenerates in different stages. It is an ideal teaching, popular science and practice base for geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, physical geography and other related majors. At the same time, the study of Tenglong cave system has important practical value for calculating the water discharge capacity of Tenglong cave and solving the flood problem that plagues the whole Lichuan basin.
Tourism appreciation value
Tenglong cave was approved as a provincial scenic spot by Hubei Provincial People's Government in 1989. In October 2005, Tenglong cave was selected as one of the six most beautiful caves in China in the "beauty China" contest organized by the authoritative National Geographic magazine of China. This is the affirmation and praise of the aesthetic value of Tenglong cave.
The most prominent feature of Tenglong cave is its huge scale. As far as the corridor space scale of the cave is concerned, compared with the most famous caves in China and the world, Lichuan Tenglong cave occupies a very important place in China and the world. First of all, in terms of the scale of the tunnel, especially the scale of the horizontal tunnel corridor, it ranks among the largest caves in the world. In the case of Tenglong cave alone, there is a huge tunnel corridor with a length of more than 10km. The entrance of Tenglong cave is 72m high and 64M wide. In the world, such a huge entrance is rare, ranking third in the world. Among the cave related national geoparks in the series of National Geoparks in China (each with its own characteristics), the scale of cave passage is far less than that of Tenglong cave in Lichuan. In addition, the world's spectacular River sinkholes and extremely rare group of holes, which together constitute the world-class geological tourism resources spectacular.
Exploration value
There is a huge and complex underground river system in karst peak cluster mountain area of Lichuan City. It and the surrounding caves are still covered with mysterious veil. It is one of the best areas for exploring caves and underground rivers. Many precipices are distributed in the park, which is also a good place for rock climbing exploration and field survival training.
Other values of geological relics
The huge volume of many geological relics, the strange and beautiful landscape style, the air, ground and underground three-dimensional cross distribution pattern are ideal places for film and television shooting and special sports activities.
Scientific research
In 1988, 25 Chinese and foreign cave experts conducted a 32 day field investigation and demonstration. Tenglong cave is the largest known cave in China and the first in China. It ranks seventh among the longest known caves in the world and is one of the world's top-grade caves. It is a provincial-level scenic spot in Hubei Province.
In October 2006, Lichuan municipal government invited 15 cave experts from Britain, Ireland, Hungary, Australia and other countries, together with relevant experts from China University of Geosciences and Institute of karst geology, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, to set up a joint scientific expedition team of Tenglong cave at home and abroad to conduct scientific investigation on Tenglong cave and Lichuan section of Qingjiang River
