Tenglong cave is a national AAAA scenic spot, located in Lichuan City, Hubei Province. It is the largest proven karst cave in China, ranking seventh among the longest proven caves in the world, and one of the world's top-grade caves. It is composed of water cave, dry cave, catfish cave, Liangfeng cave, exclusive village, three Longmen, huaxiankeng and other scenic spots. The whole cave group of Tenglong cave has five layers, including more than 300 large and small caves. It is a provincial scenic spot in Hubei Province.

TENGLONGDONG scenic spot is a national geopark, 6 kilometers away from Lichuan City, Hubei Province. With a total area of 69 square kilometers, the scenic area integrates mountains, water, caves and forests. It is famous for its majestic, dangerous, strange, secluded and beautiful scenery.

In 1988, 25 Chinese and foreign cave experts spent 32 days to investigate and prove that Tenglong cave is the largest cave in China and one of the world's top-grade caves. In 1989, the people's Government of Hubei Province approved it as a provincial scenic spot. In 1999, it was named as the patriotic education base of the whole province. In 2005, it was rated as "the most beautiful place in China" and "the six most beautiful tourist caves in China - shocking Tenglong cave" by the authoritative national geographic of China. Because of the magnificent Tenglong cave, the Navy 69l boat was named "Lichuan boat" by the Central Military Commission.

With its unique natural landscape and pleasant climate, Tenglong cave is an ideal place for tourism, recuperation, exploration and geological investigation.

In December 2015, Lichuan Tenglong cave was selected as one of the 30 Best New Tourism Landscapes in the Three Gorges.

Tenglong cave starts from the entrance of Tenglong cave in the southwest and connects with Mingyan Gorge Scenic Spot; it ends at the entrance of black hole in the northwest and connects with Xuezhao River Gorge Scenic spot. It is a long and narrow scenic spot extending along Qingjiang River valley from southwest to northeast. The altitude in the area is above 1000 meters.

There are two main scenic spots that have been developed: one is Tenglong cave and the other is Luoshui cave.

Historical records

The great corridor of Tenglong cave provides the best research base for determining the relationship between crustal movement rate and karst water system change. The complete karst landform hydrological system composed of surface and underground in this area is a natural laboratory for studying the formation mechanism of large caves and the development and evolution history of rivers and underlying currents. The analysis of stalactites can obtain the information of paleoenvironment, such as growth rate, paleotemperature, CO < sub2 < / sub concentration, paleovegetation status and precipitation. The underground river and its caves are one of the most special natural ecological environments, which are rarely involved now. The research in this field will promote the research of ecological environment and cave biology in China development. A large number of Quaternary Middle Pleistocene giant panda Saber Toothed mammal fossils have been found in TENGLONGDONG Branch Cave and qingjiangyuan area, especially the first discovery of Quaternary primate fossils in this area, which provides a very important clue for the search for paleohuman fossils.

The geological heritage development conditions in the park are typical, and karst development overlaps, inherits and regenerates in different stages. Tenglong cave was approved as a provincial scenic spot by Hubei Provincial People's Government in 1989. Scientific research
