Zhaixia Grand Canyon

Zhaixia Grand Canyon in Taining County, Fujian Province, was discovered by outsiders in June 2004. Located in Zhaixia village, 15 kilometers northwest of Taining County, it is composed of three canyons connected end to end in a circular triangle, like a golden dragon crouching in the mountains, so it is also known as Jinlong valley. It is also the first geological research route built in Taining, which is called "the model scenic spot of the World Geopark" by UN experts.

Zhaixia Grand Canyon

1. Landscape features

The three green canyons are formed by three geological processes: water erosion, gravity collapse and tectonic movement.

UNESCO experts said in the field evaluation: "whether from the perspective of geological landscape or ecological environment, this place is world-class.".

Zhaixia Grand Canyon is an excellent place to enjoy Danxia landform, with typical red cliff, cave, Lane Valley, line Valley and barrier lake.

Tongtian Gorge's "landslides" can shock people's hearts. A line Valley and a narrow rift cut deep into the mountain, trying to split the whole mountain and sink deep into the ground. It is dark and dark, like a bottomless abyss.

Due to the collapse and weathering of the whole cliff by 90 ° vertical gravity, a hilltop was cut like a giant stone tablet erected artificially.

The "time and space tunnel" of Yitianxia gorge can see and touch two geological strata with distant ages at the same time. On the left side is metamorphic rock about 400 million years ago, and on the right side is Danxia landform stratum formed 80 million years ago. Separated by a river, it is close at hand. The formation age of the two kinds of rocks is more than 300 million years different.

The cliffs on both sides of the Grand Canyon are abrupt, and the walls are very steep. It's rare to see the sunshine. It's so deep that it's almost closed. When you walk into the canyon, you feel like a paradise.

Tianqiongyan is the most attractive place of Zhaixia Grand Canyon.

At the top of a red cliff hanging upside down, there is a concave rock with a diameter of about 20 meters. Hundreds of Danxia caves of different sizes and shapes have been carved out with uncanny craftsmanship. The big cave is covered with small holes, and there are holes in the cave, just like a family of holes. They hang high above the head, and at the bottom of the valley, they look like the dome of a sacred palace, noble and magnificent; they also look like stars in the sky, dazzling confused.

At the bottom of Danya Valley in Zhaixia Grand Canyon lies a lake, Yanqi lake. Yanqi lake is under the cliff, surrounded by green bamboos and trees. The lake is quiet, cold and clear.

If we compare Danya to a strong man, Yanqi lake is just like a charming and affectionate woman, leaning against each other quietly.

The masculinity of Danya and the softness of blue water constitute a breathtaking picture.

The narrow lane, which can only allow one person to cross sideways, is formed by the mountain on the ground splitting itself after thousands of years, which is called "ground fissure"; a huge red cliff, like a big stone tablet to the sky, is a masterpiece of "avalanche".

Time and space tunnel

The metamorphic rocks on one side are about 400 million years ago, and the Danxia landform strata on the other side are 80 million years ago. The two kinds of rocks are close to each other, with a difference of 300 million years.

Dome rock

It is the most attractive part of the scenic spot.

At the top of the red cliff hanging upside down, there is a concave rock with a diameter of about 20 meters. There are hundreds of Danxia caves of different sizes and shapes. The big caves cover the small ones. There are holes in the cave. Hanging above the top of the head, it forms a strange dome.

Yanqi Lake

Hidden in the bottom of Danya Valley, under the towering cliff, surrounded by green bamboos and trees, the lake is cold and clear.

Zhaixia Village

There are only 30 families in an authentic Hakka village, all surnamed Yang. It is said that the ancestor is Yang Qilang, one of the generals of the Yang family.

The village is built according to the "s" shaped Shitang River, which is the "Peach Blossom Land" in the Grand Canyon.

Here you can experience the feeling of being a Hakka people and taste the original farmhouse rice.

The local chicken, various kinds of wild vegetables and rice are all cooked in the farm stoves, and the rice wine made by the villagers is very delicious.

From the day when the scenic spots are reopened to December 31, 2020, medical workers across the country will be free of charge with their valid certificates (doctor's certificate or nurse's certificate). Free scenic spots: dajinhu, shangqingxi, Zhaixia Grand Canyon, shangshudi, jiulongtan, Maoershan and zhuangyuanyan (excluding cruise ship, bamboo raft, Jingjiao and tour guide fees).

Take the shuttle bus from Taining to Jianning or to Datian at the intersection of Nanqiao and Minzhu Road, about half an hour's drive from Taining County.
