Zhaoying Palace

Zhaoying palace is located on Zhongshan Road with convenient transportation. It is the only third grade historic site in Yilan County. It has always been the center of belief and gathering of the people in Yilan.

Basic introduction

Besides Mazu, Yang Tingli and three courtiers of the Qing Dynasty are also honored as the three monuments of Kailan. When it was first built, it was traditionally oriented toward the sea by sitting on the West and facing the East. In 1834, the whole temple was moved to the opposite side. It was replaced by sitting on the East and facing the West and expanded. It became a rare Mazu temple in Taiwan.

The structure of the temple is narrow in face and long in body. Due to the renovation of the temple over a long period of time, only Sanchuan hall and main hall still have the architectural style of Daoguang period, among which stone and wood carvings are the most distinctive. The plaque on the statue of Mazu in the main hall, which says "Zeqin Haiyu", is an ancient object of the Daoguang period and the oldest one in the temple.

The temple has a narrow face and a long and narrow body. The temple has been renovated for a long time. Only the Sanchuan hall and the main hall still have the architectural style of Daoguang period. Among them, stone and wood carvings are the most distinctive. The main hall is dedicated to Mazu. The plaque with "Zeqin Haiyu" written on the statue is an ancient object in the Daoguang period, which is also the oldest one in the temple.
