Geology and geomorphology

Suzhou Taihu Lake National Wetland Park is a group of artificial fish ponds surrounded by the Yellow Sea Levee with an elevation of about 4m. The fish ponds with an elevation of 0.8-2.2m belong to the artificial wetland.

Suzhou Taihu Lake National Wetland Park covers four wetland types: River wetland, Lake wetland, swamp wetland and constructed wetland, including eight wetland types: permanent River, permanent fresh water lake, herb swamp, shrub swamp, forest swamp, aquatic pond, pond and irrigation land.

Suzhou Taihu Lake National Wetland Park has 16 species of national second class protected birds and 63 species of key protected wild animals in Suzhou.

Tropical Psammophytes Science Museum

Tropical Psammophytes science museum is located on the North Island of Taihu Lake Wetland Park, near the water. The whole Science Museum covers an area of 18000 square meters. The science museum displays a series of Psammophytes, mainly including American plants, African plants and Australian plants, including 100 year old tuanfan cactus, 4.7-meter-high American giant wulunzhu and the first tropical mango tree in Jiangsu Province.

Panda theme square

The panda theme square covers an area of nearly 3000 square meters, close to the Taihu giant panda Science Museum in Suzhou. Panda theme square is a comprehensive leisure square integrating entertainment, catering and commerce. XD theater of wetland exploration uses XD playing technology to play the original exploration images between African wetlands.

Lakeside Beach

Suzhou Taihu Lake National Wetland Park Taihu Lake style beach is a summer water playground, covering an area of nearly 10000 square meters, equipped with standard dressing room, shower room, reception hall, beach volleyball, water walking and other facilities. The Taihu meteorite science exhibition in the new Expo Pavilion is one of the six evidence chains of Taihu meteorite crater. Lingyun stone comes from the ash layer under the mud at the bottom of Taihu Lake, which is the most direct evidence of the Taihu meteorite strike event. Its shape is similar to that of the iron meteorite Alin.

Water sports center

The water activity center is a large-scale water interactive recreation area, with recreational projects such as assault boats, water bicycles and collision boats.

LOHAS forest

Located in the east of Taihu Lake Wetland Park, phase I of the park covers an area of about 20000 square meters. It has jungle campsites, lakeside campsites, barbecue sites, water fishing, basketball courts and supporting services for development activities. The whole "LOHAS forest" is divided into three main functional areas: camping area, leisure barbecue area and entertainment interactive area. In the leisure barbecue area, there are 10 large barbecue kiosks and 10 mobile ovens, each of which can accommodate 10 people. The camping area can accommodate 500 people camping at the same time, each tent about 2-3 people, for lovers and families. The camping area is divided into jungle camping area and lakeside camping area. Yujitai

Yujitai, located in the west of Taihu Lake Wetland Park, shows the folk customs of Taihu Lake fishermen through ecological fishery sightseeing, fishing and hunting culture (traditional fishing net fishing, fork fish, fishing and cormorant fishing, etc.) and serial display of traditional fishing gear.

Seven masted ancient ship

The seven masted ancient ship is a fishing boat for China's freshwater fishery. It is named after the seven thick masts erected on the ship, also known as "seven fans". The ship has a long history, has the reputation of "living fossil", and is also a symbol of Taihu Lake.

Development and construction

In March 2007, the construction of Suzhou Taihu Lake National Wetland Park started.

In June 2007, Suzhou Taihu Lake Wetland Park was named provincial wetland park by Jiangsu forestry bureau.

The park was officially opened on February 21, 2010.

In October 2010, it passed the National Wetland Park pilot evaluation.

On March 25, 2011, the State Forestry Administration issued the notice of the State Forestry Administration on Approving the pilot work of National Wetland Park in 45 wetlands in Hebei Province, such as Beidaihe (linshfa [2011] No. 61), and approved the construction of Taihu Lake National Wetland Park (pilot) in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province.

On September 23, 2011, the Taihu Lake National Wetland Park in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province was officially accepted (linshfa [2011] No. 212).

In 2012, Suzhou Taihu Lake National Wetland Park was rated as a national 4A tourist attraction.
