Historical evolution
Zhongshan Park has a history of more than 70 years. In 1925, Mr. Hu Yu, a Hong Kong gentleman who once served as the county magistrate of Bao'an County, planned to build the park in memory of Dr. Sun Yat Sen. at that time, the park covered an area of only 20 mu, with all kinds of wooden pavilions, monkeys and birds, and patches of camphor trees, autumn maple, stone chestnut, red cotton, Phoenix wood and Araucaria for visitors to watch. At that time, Mr. Zheng, the Nantou electric company, provided lighting power for the park free of charge. In October 1930, Mr. Chen Jianbo, an overseas Chinese in Nanshan, donated money to build a steel concrete Pavilion in the park. At that time, Mr. Hu Yu, the county magistrate, named the pavilion "Jianbo Pavilion" and personally wrote the inscription "Mr. Chen Jianbo, a famous resident in the city, is enthusiastic about public welfare. Seeing Yu Bizhi Park, he donated this pavilion to decorate it and make the park colorful". At the same time, there are four characters inscribed on the granite beside the pavilion: "enjoy with the people". During the cultural revolution, huge stones were damaged. In February 1995, the dilapidated "Jianbo Pavilion" was demolished to rebuild the monument of Neilingding Island. In recent years, the "Jianbo Pavilion" has been rebuilt in the northeast of the old park. The trees planted more than 70 years ago are now covered with the sun. Two tall and strong Araucaria trees are rare in the province. Now there are 32 ancient and famous trees in the garden.
Park environment
In the north of the old park, there is a section of the north wall of Nantou city built in the Ming Dynasty. It is 646 meters long and built along the mountain. The wall is about 6 meters high and the foundation is 3 meters wide. It is built with red sandstone and gray boulders. It was first built in 1394, the 27th year of Hongwu, Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty. It was listed as the first batch of key cultural relics protection units by Shenzhen Municipal Government in October 1983. After the founding of Shenzhen City, the municipal government has proposed a new planning orientation for the development and transformation of Zhongshan Park. Taking the large-scale sculpture of Dr. Sun Yat Sen as the theme, it has formed a historical and cultural park by using the existing plants, topography, various garden buildings, historical and cultural relics, celebrity statues, fountain waterscape, entertainment, recreational facilities, etc It is a comprehensive public leisure park with educational theme, commemorative significance, era flavor and traditional characteristics.
