Shuiman Township

Shuiman township is located at the foot of Wuzhishan mountain, in the northeast of Wuzhishan City, 34 kilometers away from Wuzhishan City and 8 kilometers away from haiyuzhong line. The name "Shuiman" first appeared in the local chronicles of Hainan in the Qing Dynasty. At that time, it was one of the six caves in Guihua map of Ding'an County. The Chinese meaning of this Li place name is "very old and supreme"; and the location of Shuiman is just like the meaning of its name According to Hainan geological expert Li Fu, Shuiman township is the highest Township on Hainan Island. The geographical elevation of the township government is 635 meters, while shuimanshang village is the highest village, 15 meters higher than the township government.

Wuzhishan township was established in 1958, and then changed into a commune. In 1987, Wuzhishan township was restored. In 1997, it covers an area of 108.9 square kilometers and has a population of 4000. The Li nationality accounts for 87%. It governs four village committees: Fanglong, Shuiman, Maonao and yapai.
