The eighteen sceneries mentioned are based on the natural landscape and folklore of Wei Jie, a poet in Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty. The eighteen views are carved on a cliff outside the Damo cave. They are Damo's cliff, the ascent of the Antarctic, the mountain ape guarding the gorge, the cloud of the ancient crane's nest, the immortal's giant trace, the picture of Fushou spring, the Pantao Manwu, the forest of jade shoots, the ant boat crossing the tide, the fishing lamp shining, the lion playing the ball, the Golden Toad coming out of the cave, the Fu Hu Tuo Jing, the Dragon listening method, the armor unloading rock, Cihang Jiagou, the eight immortals cave, and the thousand Buddha and Vatican Palace.

The 18 sceneries of Modong are the core scenic spots of Gushan. At the entrance of shibajing, it used to be a man-made hillside revetment and barren plot, but now it presents the original topography. The entrance to the 18 scenes of Damo cave used to be an eyesore management room, which was not in harmony with the surrounding landscape. With the increasing number of tourists and climbers, the Management Office of Gushan Scenic Area decided to demolish these incongruous buildings, covering an area of more than 200 square meters, and replace them with an antique style management room, as well as a group of antique "sister corridors" and leisure platforms for tourists to enjoy. At the junction of the promenade, there will also be a holiday rock. The original natural landscape and style of Gushan can be restored with natural style. To this end, we demolish those uncoordinated buildings and build corridors and leisure platforms. The whole construction is carried out in accordance with the requirements of scenic spots. Buildings with Fuzhou traditional style are constructed, and many plants are configured to coordinate with the surrounding plant landscape as far as possible.
