Museum of marine life
Taiwan Water Museum is based on the circulation of water. At the entrance, there is a majestic waterfall, implying that the vast rivers and seas all started from the clear flow of mountains. When you enter the museum, you will first come to the high mountain and stream area. Along the way, there are 9-meter-deep reservoirs, mangrove estuaries, oyster ponds, coral reef coasts, and Nanwan sub tidal zone (20-30 meters deep), where all kinds of aquarium fish grow. With dead trees, artificial waves, artificial corals and other lifelike landscaping, people can see the lifelike underwater world.
Basic introduction
The Taiwan Museum of marine life is known as the largest aquarium world in Southeast Asia. Standing on the shore of Houwan Bay, it is planned to be two major parts of the Taiwan waters Museum and the coral kingdom Museum. Besides the functions of exhibition and education, it will also become an important center for marine research on the Island. At present, the Taiwan waters Pavilion, which is open to the public, is mainly composed of a number of large aquarium tanks with vivid scenes to show the fish resources in Taiwan's streams, lakes and inshore waters; the coral kingdom Pavilion, which is based on the coral reefs in the South China Sea, has four undersea tunnels, a shipwreck area and a cetacean pond.
Finally, we come to the ocean pool, a giant aquarium filled with 1 million gallons of sea water. Through the huge viewing window, the scene of fish cruising back and forth is as vivid as watching a movie.
In addition to the rich exhibits, the museum's buildings and surrounding facilities also echo the theme of the ocean. For example, in the whale water plaza outside the hall, there are many giant whales cast in actual proportion, which spray water regularly.
architectural composition
The exhibition contents of the Museum of marine biology are divided into three main theme Museums: Taiwan waters Museum, coral kingdom Museum and world waters Museum. The first exhibition hall is an aquarium imitating natural ecology. It presents the unique waters of Taiwan. It is called "Taiwan waters hall". It presents the theme of high mountains and streams area, middle reaches of rivers area, reservoir area, estuary area, intertidal zone area, Nanwan ecological area and eastern ocean area. The most attractive is that it has a five meter high and 16 meter long viewing window to show the magnificent eastern part of the ocean The ocean pool in the ocean area.
The second exhibition hall is a "coral kingdom hall" with coral ecology in the South China Sea as the main axis, and introduces all kinds of corals from shallow sea to deep sea. The most special area is the 84 meter long "undersea tunnel", through which people can enjoy the colorful coral reef world without diving. In addition, there are also artificial breeding in the hall Indoor corals can be seen in the "coral exhibition area".
The third exhibition hall takes the "waterless Aquarium" of 3D virtual reality as the main exhibition axis, presents the latest marine ecological virtual reality and the "World Water Museum" of rare polar creatures, and takes "ancient ocean", "seaweed forest", "polar water area" and "deep sea area" as the exhibition theme, showing the tropical waters of Taiwan through electronic technology In order to expand people's understanding of the marine ecology of various parts of the earth, we need to explore the world's major waters and ancient oceans.
The Museum of marine biology also introduced Moby Dick from Russia and met people in August 2002. It is currently kept in the Moby Dick pool of the coral kingdom Museum. Through the interaction of feeding Moby Dick and the introduction of the commentator, the public can have an in-depth understanding of the clever and lively side of the lovely sea elf, Moby Dick, and also provide the public with novel visiting content and experience.
